I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 Express, but I keep getting compatibility issue box. When I use the online search for help, it informs me that it is not compatible with Windows 8. It is for a homework assignment. I must install SQL Server and use two database files that are located online. I have been trying to follow the directions to get the databases and SQL Server to work but I am coming up empty. I do not have to use SQL Server 2008 Express with Tools, but that is what the page with the downloadable databases on it is saying to use. I am at a complete loss and keep coming up empty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mary

What is the error you getting?
If you have 64 bit machine you need to download the 64bit setup.

If it say that it is incompatible then you either need a service pack (SQL Express 2008 SP3) or a newer version (2012 or 2014) and as already pointed out, on a 64 bit system you should install the 64 bit version.
