Does changing the default gateway address of a network adapter affect the internet connection in any way..??
Posted

1 solution

Yes - yes it does, the default gateway[^] is the gate through which all of your network requests would pass through and reach the mainframe servers (on other networds) for processing and responses etc. So, it affects the internet connections in the default way - in which you cannot use the services outside of your own local network. Gateways are used to transfer your request from one network to other.

You should contact the ISP for checking which gateway to use and they will better guide you which gateway address you would be writing in the Windows Network settings to better use the service.

so what if the gateway is changed to an address or pc that is connected to the internet, will the request be routed through that pc's gateway address..??
