Hi all,

I read somewhere that the product key and licensing of applications is working based on some encrypting algorithms(RC4,SH-1).I have a doubt regarding this, if I installed one software in one system using a product key say "01gh4657", then I try to install the same in another system with same product key means it will show "product key not valid". How the setup is detecting that the product key is already used in some other system ?

They store the usage information of product keys on their systems; probably databases.

But indirectly you did use some sort of online activation process which led them to this.

They can catch your system information and what product key you have used while installation.

Already I searched in Google for that, but I have just one doubt. How the same setup detecting the product key is used or not?
