How do I use a Private RSA Encryption Key to open an Encrytped file?

Hello, I have a Private RSA Encryption Key that I received from the Nice people at the Ransomware Cryptowall lair. The Decryption program they provided did not work but I did have the key supposedly used to generate encryption. Is there a 3rd party program I could use to plug this in and decrypt file assuming it is the right key?

I saw articles on this site about encryption and thought I would ask the experts.

If they provided the key, and the software to use it, then you need to talk to them.

We have no idea what they gave you, and one or both of them could be wrong. Only they will have the records to know.

Unfortunately they are criminals..so not very helpful:-) I was just hoping there was a program that could apply the key to the encrypted file. Kind of like if I sent you the RSA key and the encrypted file..What would you use to open it? Or is it not possible?

Honestly?
Chances are it isn't possible. These are criminals after all, and the simplest thing to do is just screw your file up rather than encrypt it. They don;t care, they just want your money.

Do you have a backup? Is the file really important?
I'd probably want to scrub the PC and reload from scratch, just in case - rather than running additional software from known criminals.

Unfortunately I think you are right. We have 95% backed up. Discovered an important folder that was not being included in daily backup.
