direct socket connection between two machine

Hi,

I want to create a simple chatting VB.NET application that allow communication between two machines,without including a chat server.Will this be possible?
on the application the ip address will be displays. by selecting any of those IP,a direct connection will be made between them and so they can send and receive message.
Please help me...
