Hello Everyone

I have done my project in ASP.NET, SQL SERVER 2008 R2 and .NET framework 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate

I have searched in google about the version of Windows Server 2003.

Which version will be suitable for my project can anyone tell me please?

Standard version or Enterprise version or anything else?

I dont understand these difference in versions.

I just want a server which will support my project to make it live

Thanks
Sudeshna

I'd suggest to buy Windows 8.1 Pro/Ultimate.

As Windows XP, it is obsolete.

Microsoft only sells current editions of Windows. Right now, you can only buy Window 8.1 and Windows Server 2012R2. You can find some distributors that may still have physical inventory of older editions. If you have an enterprise volume licensing, there are other options available to you, but that also has limits. In addition, you need to consider what your hardware is capable of running. Most hardware manufactures stopped supporting Windows Server 2003 (it is 12 years old).

The next question you would ask is standard or data center. From functionality stand point, they both do pretty much the same thing. The major difference between the two is amount of RAM an processors supported. If you need to setup clustering or high availability, you will need to go with data center edition.

Your needs should drive the decision of which edition. I strongly suggest selecting a vendor (like Dell, HP, or a volume licensing reseller) and explain your application needs. They will help direct you to the edition you need.
