In Mac OS X, you have the ability to view all the workgroup names (not workgroup name for the joined computer!) as you can see in the screen shot below:

I have been trying forever to approach this result just like what Apple did with it's Mac OS X operating system in listing the workgroup names (again, NOT computer names in the workgroup) through PING with each IP Address (according to the Gateway and DNS Server), but it appears that every body on the internet keep providing an off-topic solution. Can someone please provide a working solution for this?
