You can use brackets, AND, OR, and NOT to improve your search. For example: C# AND NOT(VB or SQL)

A query of a single * will return everything, filtered by any filters.

The Ribbon has a property OrbStyle. Just set it to "Office_2010". Or am I missing something?

OK. Now I did solve it. The previous solution was quite fine, but caused the tooltip to never show again after the item is clicked.

Check out the DrawOrb*** methods for the corresponding colors. For all gradient things a "North" and "South" color is defined.

Glad you figured it out! The selected index change is not true - you have a "DropDownItemClicked" event. But of course, you can host any other control as well.
