Win8 Metro Desktop App

I would like to develop a Desktop App for windows 8 and place that app in the windows8 metro app store as a Desktop App.
Can any one please give some useful link for that purpose. I have searched and got these links. I am looking for a short step by step process to publish Desktop app in metro app store.

I also would like to know about the application certification for windows8 and all requirements required.

SetWindowsHookEx in Metro App

I have developed an application which uses SetWindowsHookEx to capture keyboard's key stroke and filters some blacklisted words. This works fine in Win7 and Windows8 desktop application.

Now I would like to make a windows 8 metro style app which will also supports same. But in metro app I found that SetWindowsHookEx only capture key events on that application, It can not capture key event of another metro application's or desktop application's.

Can anyone tell me how to overcome this problem ?

I may be part of a new small business soon.

The plan at the moment will be to gut the innards of the existing machines, donate used parts, and rebuild with new parts.

The element I've never done before is this: Have enough legal copies of the existing windows operating system(s) so that if/when one computer goes bad, I can gut, reformat, donate, and reinstall another copy on a machine in a legal way that keeps us in good form legally and ethically, without requiring a single-copy purchase; and can do so right there and then on that very day when we need it.

A significant part of this scheme is that we will have real business computers with the apps we need. i.e., minimized crap-ware; quite possibly zero. (Every fully constructed computer that I've seen in the past ten years came preloaded with crapware, to an astounding degree.)

So, what's the stupid way to avoid, and the smart way to proceed, along the path toward...

-- Several (more than 2, less than 15) fully legal copies of windows
-- Clean computers with just the apps we want
-- Ability to reformat and reinstall on a moment's notice.

Need To Revert From Windows 8 to Windows 7

For hardware reasons, I need to go back to Windows 7.

I Put the Win'7 installation DVD into the drive.

The Machine will not boot from the DVD

I Rebooted the machine, did an "F2" and went into the BIOS.

The DVD ROM is supposed to boot first. That's what the BIOS setting says. Nope, Doesn't happen.

Can someone please explain to me how to get Windows 8 to let me boot the Windows 7 installation DVD ?

Or, more to the point, how do I go back to Win'7 ?

Windows 7: Two monitors worked perfectly.

Windows 8: Only one works

Google, Yahoo, Bing, YouTube; have not guided me to an answer yet.

What setting do I change to put my second monitor back into operation again ?

Has anyone used bing ad's in an app? Does it work?

I am currently developing a Window's store game and trying to decide on an advertising model.

My Question's:
1)Is this a good or bad idea? eg. Can this be a viable revenue stream?
2) Is bing the only source of ad's allowed? (That might be a problem from some of the forum post's on the site.

Hello, i am making a project for Windows 8 Metro that requires to log in in a local device that have a web interface, for example my router. On the webbrowser control in visual basic i was using http://username:password@192.168.1.254/ to navigate but in the webview i get a COMException error.

Anyone have an idea how to fix it or another way to do this task?

Unable to obtain Bytes sent and received using MB APIs on Win8

I am not able to get bytes sent and received using NetworkInformation.GetInternetConnectionProfile(); since this function is returning Null.

Mobile Broadband dongle is being used to connect to internet. Connection calls using MB APIs are successful.

Hi guys... I'm just starting with Windows 8/Metro... I'm trying to figure out how to get a list of drives on the machine. The MSDN says Environment.GetLogicalDrives should work or System.IO.Directory.GetLogicalDrives but I can't seem to find either. I assume the framework for Metro apps is limited similar to how Silverlight is a subset of the .Net libraries... Anyone have any idea how to do this?

Hi.I have a ItemControl and i set ItemPanel Property to Horizontal StackPanel and I Bound it to ObservableCollection of Icons.Now I Wanna user be able to remove icons with drag drop them to out of ItemControl and also can change items positions with each other by drag and Drop.

I have a ItemsControl in ScrollViewer and I set ItemsPanel of my ItemsControl to Horizontal StackPanel and i bound it to ObservableCollection of userControls.Now I wanna when user click on icons of open UserControls in my ItemsControl,automatically scrollviwer's offset change to show icon clicked UserControl.( I have a Icon for my each usercontrols)

And Also when user open new UserControl ,i wanna my ItemsControl automatically show it ( now when i open a new usercontrol i should scroll my ItemControl to reach it),
can i do this with above controls ,if yes,please tell me how.If not,i appreciate to tell me I should use which controls and how.

A question about mixing technologies...

Just learning experimenting with WinRT..

I can see you can mix and match C++ and C# WinRT component, they feel like being in the "same realm"..

But how do I mix with Javascript/HTML component?

Say I have a normal DirectX C++ WinRT app, with some AI in C# and I want to show some information text panel with lots of interactive rich text, a job for Javascript.
How do I show the Javascript/HTML in my XAML app?
Further, ideally, I'd like to use some of my 'business data' to customize the text / HTML, any sample?
