I'm the same with games. The last time I bought a game that was less than two years old was for the Sega Megadrive (Leftpond: Genesis).
In my somewhat lengthy experience, "latest" has all too often been shown to mean "as buggy as an ant farm" -- and yes, this includes you, microsoft.

Very few naughty people try to crack passwords; they just steal or download lists.
Password cracking almost only ever happens when it's personal -- e.g. when a "loved one", professional rival, or "security" service wants to read your e-mail.
If you want to give password crackers a really hard time, don't use eight-character passwords.
