Yes. Unless it is proper euthanasia to relieve incurable pain and misery.
These people who kill dogs without any reason except for their own joy and thrill [or selfish convenience] should be executed themselves. Of course, I also think people who kill people for no good reason should be executed as well.

That attitude always makes me queasy. The dog is treated in good faith, no matter what ("it's never the dog's fault"), while the human somehow must proove their value.

And here's the exact problem I have with that: If we don't underestand something, we rarely say, we rarely act upon "I don't understand that". Rather, we construct soem explanation that might work.
That's a great human trait, brought us where we are, but should give us some humility: We might be wrong.

Dogs are animals with basic intelligence and have some sense of love and hate - but also the basics of hunger and need. Humans are similarly animals - but are more sentient and intelligent (in most cases) and have the added knowledge of good and bad (or evil in some cases) and should be held to a higher standard if we want to call ourselves the rulers of this planet - which we delude ourselves that we are.

Given that she offed herself as well, I don't think she fell into any of these categories. My guess is she didn't want the dog to pine without her, but we'll never know.

The guy complaining about this thread above has got a pretty good point. I couldn't give a f*** about her dog, she did have two kids though who will have to live with this for the rest of their lives.
Taking your own life is the choice of a broken mind and a result of mental illness. It is no more deserving of being mocked than death by heart failure as the result of heart disease. Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves.

I have no sympathy for people who commit suicide. They make a choice and die with the consequence. In some instances it might even be the wise choice... I fully understand. Just don't kill innocent animals.

Why not? It is the result of mental illness. Do you have sympathy for those who die as the result of other diseases?
From what I understand her two small children have lost both their parents in a short space of time. That is the tragedy in this story.

The tragedy is that the children were born to such broken parents, not that they are now without them.
What life would have followed in such a messed up family, maybe the parents would have got better, maybe worse and a life of pain and suffering would have ensued. Maybe it still will. The children are young, they will most likely not remember, they have a shot at a more stable life now.

I don't think any of us can speculate about the kids future either way. But I do think that short of abusive parents, a broken loving parent is far batter than a dead one.

Maybe, although her kids had already been taken from her and were in care before some time before she killed herself.
She wasn't abusing them directly, but she was abusing herself considerably and unable to take care of them at all.
