Normally I set out trying to write one, (they are usually quite hard to compile), so to do it inadvertently is rather satisfying!

Aren't you nine months late? "21/11/2012" isn't palindromic; "21/02/2012" is.
I suppose you could be using a two-digit year (21/11/12), in which case you're either a really old COBOL programmer, or too young to have been working during the Millenium Bug panic.
