I am the IT Manager for a national organisation and I manage a small team of .NET Developers.

I specialise in MS based development using the latest tools available(which is MS Visual Studio 2008 right now).

Most of my design and development work in the past 10 years has been in producing Document Management and Workflow applications, and more recently data centric applications.

I have a long history of application development experience, the first 10 years being in the mainframe days before client-server technology.

I enjoy the business and the technical aspects of my vocation.

On the business side, I consider alignment with business strategy and business requirements with software product essential in developing the business itself. This is achieved by creating and developing software that is mission critical to the future of the business, as well as providing immediate value adds for a healthy bottom line.

On the technical side, employing RAD methogolgies based on the SDLC help keep pace with the business in a timely and cost effective fashion. Continuous improvement in technical practices and configuration management help the long term maintainability of the software. Keeping up with leading edge technology and maintaining standards around best practice also help to expand the longevity of the software.

I also think that the best Managers of software developers are ones that really know how to keep pace with the latest development technologies and understand them as much as possible.

I appreciate the Code Project website and would like to give a special thank you to the Code Project principals and everyone else for sharing their experiences through their contributions.
