This ZIP file contains a demonstration of how to use custom DLLs within
an InstallShield application. The free version of InstallShield that
comes with Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Professional is the version that
this demo is intended to work with.
THE FOLLOWING STEPS SHOULD BE FOLLOWED IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY BUILD
THE SETUP PROGRAM.
1. Unzip the following files using folder names to "C:\" The InstallShield
setup project requires this directory.
2. You will need to build the projects in the GreatProduct.dsw workspace
located in the "C:\My Installations\GreatProduct" folder. Do this before
attempting to building the setup program. Choose "Batch Build..." from
the Build menu and press the "Rebuild All" button to compile all the
applications.
NOTE: The resource for the GreatProduct application requires an ActiveX
control provided in the folder, "ActiveX_Control." Make sure the control
is built BEFORE trying to view the resource file.
3. After building the applications, you can build the setup application.
To build the setup program, double click the "GreatProduct.IPR"
InstallShield project located in the "C:\My Installations\GreatProduct"
folder.
First, compile the setup script (Ctrl + F7 or Build->Compile)
Next, choose the Build->Media Build Wizard menu option to build the
setup. Choose the "default" media build and BE SURE to do a FULL build
instead of a quick one. Otherwise, just take all the defaults by pressing
Next.
IMPORTANT
You may need to rebuild the release build for IS_StartProg project because
the InstallShield application sometimes deletes the DLL generated by
Visual C++.
