friends i am going to start a project for the great mind challenge 2012 which is "VOICE BASED WEB BROWSER" but i am in confused state how i can start this project?
if u have any suggestion please tell me?
if u have any ideas how the browser look like?
so that i can analyze ideas and my project will be successful.

Well you could try PHP, JSP etc., all of which have their own websites and books that you can find. It is usually best to get experience with the basics of the platform you are planning to work on before you try something as advanced as this project.

Don't you have a defined course on it? Any teacher/professor taught you anything regarding websites?

It's your project so you need to define the looks and features of it.

Think of it yourself, look on web if you can get anything. Break the whole thing into multiple small parts and pick/do one-by-one. Post specific issues and questions if you face any.

Please go through the links shared with you. You have speech based libraries available for C#. Now how exactly you are planning to use is what all depends. Not sure how you plan to use a web app for speech. Do some research, Google.

The idea sounds good. But I am not sure how much help you can get on the questions you asked. Its your project so you need to define the most of it.
But since it is a Browser it will a client application (possible Winforms or WPF).
Something like this: Web Browser in C#[^]
And you will have to have this application capable enough to be able to learn and act on voice commands.
Something like this: Speech Recognition[^]
Perhaps the combination of both these projects itself is your complete project. But I thought I should atleast point you in right direction so that you know that it is totally feasible project.

Since you are planning to create a web browser that is speech enabled there is no question of using ASP.NET. you will have to create a windows application in form of winform or WPF application.
The two links I sent you shows how to create a web browser and how to connect with and handle speech commands. The only think you need to do to complete your project is to integrate these two functionalities and create your own commands and grammar for that.

Hello guys. I'm facing an irritating problem the past 2 days.
I have created a new website from scratch using visual studio 2010 i VB.net with .NET Framework 3.5. All my pages are .aspx.
I have also attached a database of .mdf format.
When I tried to deploy the website in my work's application server (Secured LAN, Windows 2003, IIS 6, Itanium Processor, .NET Framework 4) I keep getting an HTTP 403 error.
When I tried to deploy it in my Windows 7 Home Premium laptop (IIS 7) though, I got it running in a minute!
What am I doing wrong? Please help me!

My network application deals with security, and as such, it requires that real time updates be distributed to its clients within just a few seconds of their occurrence.
Right now, it uses a custom network server that implements a push model. This works great because each client doesn't have to hit the server every few seconds just to find out that nothing is happening, and the server can spend its time doing useful stuff instead of responding to thousands of wasted requests for data from the clients.
Now I am thinking about moving the system to a web server, and having the clients use a web service to communicate with it.
Is it possible to use a push model with a web server? Can a web service accommodate such a design? If not, is there some other way to solve the need for real time updating without having the clients pummel the server to death with thousands of useless requests per minute?

One way to do this is to incorporate OASIS Web Services Notifications[^]. It is not exactly bleeding edge, but it is an accepted and standardized notification interface.
To be honest, I found it a bit cumbersome getting all the schema dependencies straightened out, but it is doable.
I am only going to throw a few links at you since you will have more fun searching for information yourself  . You should be looking for references to "WS-BaseNotification", such as this tiny page[^] on Wikipedia.
Another approach I would like to try out, but still have not had time to play around with, is setting up a callback mechanism as outlined in this CodeProject article: How to Get Notifications from a .NET Web Service[^].
It is an interesting concept with potential problems that could be worked out. Essentially, the client performs an asynchronous call to a web service on the server and the server "parks" the response. Since the client is expecting a response, it does not tear down the connection. Whenever the server has a notification to send, it sends the response with notification information to the client, which will process it and perform a new call to the "callback web service".

I will look into those links you provided.
The coincidence is that a very early version of my system did use the "response parking" technique, but with .NET Remoting calls instead of web service calls.
This proved to be very difficult to manage for reasons that I can't recall at the moment, and that's when I developed the push implementation.

I am developing a GPS tracking app on Android using Eclipse IDE and send to location upadte to web server.so that on every 10minan android phone update to webserver over map..its like if the user using cell somewhere or spceifoc location so the webserver update/track that location on the map using GPS.i dont know where to start,please i need to help..how to write a code on eclips..and how to make others phases? please help..my question is that how to make web development?

I have no idea how your application is supposed to operate so I cannot begin to suggest what coding is necessary. I would suggest you spend some time researching the parts you need to work with and come back here when you have a more specific question.
