Our first winner in our $25,000 Android At Play competition has been announced. Congratulations to Ash Cairo for his submission 3D Cross-Platform 3rd Person Shooter. Keep those entries coming!

For the past few weeks Intel has been holding the Intel Ultimate Coder: Ultrabook Challenge. This challenge sees 6 developers create 6 applications in 6 weeks, with the goal to showcase the sensors, the touchscreen, the power management, communication, graphics, and other features of the latest generation of Ultrabooks.

If you've been watching then maybe you've been thinking "I could do better". Well here's your chance.

Write an application to take advantage of the Ultrabook features and win an Ultrabook and $5000 in cash.

But wait, there's more: (turn up the volume and add reverb:)

There are 100 fully loaded Ultrabooks to be won.

...Ultrabooks.... Ultrabooks....Ultrabooks...

We have 100 Ultrabooks to go to the top competition entrants in our App Innovation Contest. Write your application, submit it as an article, and the best 100 applications will win a 3rd generation Intel Ultrabook.

Write an app, or even easier - upgrade an existing app - and add screen gestures, or use the gyro and accelerometer and wave the entire Ultrabook around to control the app. Use the GPS for location services, crank up the graphics, enable messages to be received while the unit is asleep or talk to another device using NFC. Go nuts. The more your showcase what an Ultrabook can do, the higher your application will be ranked.

The App Innovation Contest officially starts September 17. Keep an eye out for the rules and details, but start thinking about your app now. Those Ultrabooks will not last.

cheers,
Chris Maunder

Walking a native and a managed callstack is fairly easy. Walking a mixed-mode callstack is much much harder. Existing documentation is truly minimal. I hope this article and its sample profiler can shed some light in this area.
