If you want an Ultrabook sent your way, for free, then our AppInnovation contest is a pretty simple way to get your hands on one. However, I thought it worth going over a few points:

  1. This competition is for apps that showcase how an Ultrabook is different from your run-of-the-mill laptop. The more you show off the Ultrabook, the better your chances.
  2. We strongly encourage members to focus first on a Windows Desktop app (ie non-Metro). the $1000 prize for getting your app into the Intel AppUp store only applies to Windows Desktop apps.
  3. To get your app in the AppUp store you'll need a code signing certificate. Intel will kindly subsidise the cost of a certificate for you, but the process can take a number of days. As soon as you're a round 1 winner, get to work on getting a certificate.
  4. You don't need to provide full source code for your submissions. Part of the goal here is to help you get your commercial apps into App stores. Getting your app in an online store is a great way to make some money off your hard work.
  5. Judging for round 1 will continue to October 24, but some applications that are highly developed, or are very good and show promise have already made it through round 1. If your entry has not yet been awarded then keep developing it and expanding your entry. We constantly review entries and updates.
  6. Don't stop working on your app! Round 1 winners will receive an Ultrabook, but that Ultrabook is meant for testing. If you wait until you get an Ultrabook to complete your app you'll run out of time.

Best of luck everyone!

cheers,
Chris Maunder
