I've decided to follow the trend and use a picture of an inanimate object for my profile.
It's a baby octopus in a jar. I assume it's in formaldehyde or something, but I've never taken the lid off. My father, who finds all sorts of bizarre things at second hand stores and garage sales, gave it to me a few years ago. It's a little creepy, but fascinating too -- you can see all the little suction cups on it legs.
If there's any interest, I can put up a large version of the pic in my webspace.
So in the interests of survival, they trained themselves to be agreeing machines instead of thinking machines. All their minds had to do was to discover what other people were thinking, and then they thought that, too." Breakfast of Champions, Kurt Vonnegut aoeu
I happened to see a bit of the Jerry Springer show yesterday. It's been years since I've seen it, and thankfully it will be years before I see it again.
This particular episode was about a guy who broke up with his girlfriend on the show because he's been fooling around with one of their male friends and he has decided that he is gay. It seemed like Jerry was subtly trying to incite them to fight. Crazy stuff.
I was wondering if the whole thing was staged. Are there really people like this, and more importantly, why is this on television? I don't think it should be censored, but I can't see any benefit from watching it.
