Ian Brockbank is a software engineer working for Wolfson Microelectronics plc. He leads the development of the evaluation software supporting customers evaluating and developing systems using Wolfson audio, touch screen and power management chips. He has also worked on Wolfson's Windows CE and PalmOS drivers for Wolfson chips.

Ian has been interested in software process for many years, and is convinced that Agile methodologies provide the best return when implemented properly. He is guiding the company in introducing Agile and Lean software development principles.

In previous jobs, Ian developed the user interface and 100-stream networked video recorder for IndigoVision's CCTV-over-IP-networks system. The system was used for the last two Olympics and the World Cup. Before that, Ian worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, first on the OpenVMS file system and then on a port of the OpenVMS Lock Manager to Windows NT clusters as part of a larger shared-everything clustered file system for NT.

Ian's specialities include C/C++, user interfaces (particularly with MFC), embedded development, asynchronous development - multi-threaded, multi-process and multi-machine. On the process front, Ian is a Certified Scrum Master, and has studied Lean Software Development, XP and Agile software development in general. He is a founder member of the Agile Scotland group.
