Despite all resistance, I'm a programmer. It started with endless hours of torture reading DATA statements to my father as he typed them into our TRS-80. ARRRGHHH!!
This moved to an actual interest once I learned how to code a little, then in college I said "there is no way I'm living my life in front of a stupid computer screen" so I quit.

Four years later, tired of managing a restaurant, and partying til 4-5 in the morning I sought more structure. And got a job programming. It serves me well and here I am.

I did gain a pound, but I had a great vacation this week visiting my brother for the fourth of July weekend. Plenty of good eats, beer, and good times. What diet??

I did get some hiking, swimming, and running in, but apparently not enough. Oh well, I'll catch up this week. Honest. Roll eyes |

Today does mark 5 smoke free days however. So overall I'm ahead for the week. Cool |

I skipped a week, but obviously not much progress has been made. I sort of fell out of the exercise/losing weight routine for a bit. It's been raining just about every night after work, so I went about 2 weeks or so without any exercise. The weathers just a lame excuse as the was really plenty of time to get out, but I didn't and managed to sort of maintain my weight, but could tell it was creeping back on slowly.

So last week I went out for a jog, and was happy, both with the distance (.5 miles + 2 quarter mile stretches) and how I felt afterwards.
I know a half mile isn't much to brag about, but a few months ago, I couldn't even go 1/10 of a mile without collapsing into a heap on the ground. I can now actually see myself jogging a mile at a stretch soon. Big Grin | :-D

Anyway, having poked back into the 250's last week, I'm back down into the 240's and motivated again to continue.

Dropped down another 2. The strange thing about this week is that I did no exercise. At all. I know that won't happen too often, so I'm planning on getting myself back walking this evening.

This week puts the first tens digit into the loss column. Big Grin | :-D

I don't even feel like it's any effort. If I can maintain 1-2 lbs. a week I'll be happy.

One single lonely pound has left me. I'll miss the little bugger, though he was headstrong and lazy.

Though I'd certainly like to be losing as fast as Terry is, I'm happy with the consistency, and feel confident that the changes I'm making are long term.
I'm enjoying my bike rides more and my walks are turning into jogs piece by piece.

I need to get a tune-up on my bike, though. It's not cooperating everytime I want to switch gears. Nothing worse than pedaling uphill and having your shifter give you the finger when you flip to new a gear and you're trying to keep cadence.

I'll tell you after my lame 6 mile rides, the athletes riding Tour de France have all my respect.

As an aside, I'd also like to take a moment to remember and thank all those who have fallen on this Memorial Day. Rose | [Rose]

Woohoo! 2 more pounds gone! This is getting fun. If I could have, I would've given myself a high-five this morning, instead I pumped my fist into the air and said "Yeahhh!"
Then I turned and looked at my big all-teeth-bearing grin in the mirror, and told myself what a dork I was. Big Grin | :-D

I didn't exercise so much this week, but I ate only when I was hungry. Novel thought isn't it?
Though I feel I could easily lapse into old eating habits at this point, I also think it wouldn't be too difficult to keep up the new habits, and better still improve upon them.

I hope Terry saw another successful week as well.

TWO ** pant * HUNDRED * gasp * FIFTY * wheez *** THREE Smile | :)

Clocked in a good 25 miles of walking and cycling this week. It's been a blast! It's amazing how different my view of the neighbor has become since travelling around without a car. Meeting people, taking in the smells and sounds, it's really cool.

I did a much better job of sticking to my diet this week, I'm happy to say. Those SlimFast shakes, while by no means as delicious as sugar encrusted deep-fried apple pastries, go down easily.

I feel bad now if I don't do exercise every day, and my energy level overall is going up. Man, I should started this years ago.
