my problem requires the stretching and i already have a different css for each browser,moreover the div which the image should fill is not a full page.
the problem is replacing the background-size with an IE compatible alternative.

thank you for replying.
i didn't know about these reasons,
however in my opinion some of the reasons were not likely to worry about such as:
1-Making Code Harder to Maintain(not necessary).
2-Faking the User Agent(as mentioned in the same post i wont worry about someone who went so far Faking his User Agent).
3-Dealing With the Complex User Agent String(i found it easier than using the css hacks).
