What would be the most commonly used Framework? Like if I wanted to send my program to just a few friends what would you recommend, and how on earth do I change which framework it works on? :)

This doesn't help. I already have buttons and events to control the wmp but it just doesn't work on any computer without visual studio. I have already done what that link you provided suggests:)

I love you. I actually do!
It works! Finally!!
:happy:
Just 1 thing:)
In my original program there were 2 list boxes.
The first one was to enter songs into via the dialog.
The second was the proper music list you moved the songs you want from the first one.
For example:
listBox2.Items.Add(listBox1.Items[listBox1.SelectedIndex].ToString());
listBox1.Items.Remove(listBox1.Items[listBox1.SelectedIndex].ToString());
Is there a way to do this ? :)

You entered songs into the first list box then moved the songs you wanted over to the list box 2 which is the main Music list. :)
Is there a way to do this? :)

Yes sorry I am very uninformed about classes, objects, etc. My college group has just moved off simple Console programming and into Windows form. So far we have learned about a few items like textboxes, buttons, listboxes, dialogs, etc. etc.
Never learned information about classes,objects, types, references.
I have been trying to learn more ahead of college group by using the internet.
Would it help to paste the whole code for my program (it's small and basic) for someone to help me sort this out

This line:
Song song = new Song(openFileDialog1.FileName);
doesn't work, it doesn't take 1 argument

Lol no =) I am far infront of my group in college, I get bored because the other stuff is too easy, and I am just searching Windows just trying to re-create simple applications in a basic way. So far I have done a calculator, word processor and now a music player (this post) im doing. : )

Ok I did what you said, and it works when I read it from a label:
string name;
label3.Text = name;
SoundPlayer sound = new SoundPlayer(name);
sound.Play();
now it works, but not with the listBox1.SelectedIndex.ToString() way, how come?
Joel Whatley-

Apparently this doesn't work
SoundPlayer sound = new SoundPlayer(listBox1.SelectedIndex.ToString());
sound.Play();

Oke =) thanks, but can you help me with making it work?
I'm really new to programming so I don't really understand properly with why it's giving an error.
This is a button to use the OpenFileDialog:
ofd.Filter = "mp3 Files (*.mp3)|*.mp3";
if (ofd.ShowDialog() == System.Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK && ofd.FileName.Length > 0)
{
string name = ofd.FileName;
listBox1.Items.Add(name);
}
then how is it possible (using a button) to play that file with SoundPlayer?
For example the listBox will have the filename as C:\User\Joel\Music\song.mp3
Please help =)

Oh, so it's crashing because there's an error in the code?
Thinking about it there might have been one, but I'm sure it was just an unused variable but I'll try it anyway, thanks

Ah ok, the program is a simple word processor, nothing really complex at all..
I'm running on windows 7
and hmm, I just tried opening the one in the release folder, and it opens... But it opens a really old version of the program... what the heck

Thanks a lot =) I will try out the rich text box and see if I can work out the font styles for a selection in the text in the textbox. What I really want is for the user to highlight some text in the textbox and be able to edit just that bit, instead of the whole textbox =)
thanks for help!

Is it really that much hassle just to read a cell from an excel file? :( Seems like so much code just to grab a string out of a file

I mean it works if I use that code for a single button but is there a way to make it work for all of them with that single method? instead of copying it for each button =)
thanks in advance

Oke i'm a little confused but im trying it, im just not sure what the "b" is in your example code, is it a certain button? or do i write it for every button with a unique name?
im trying to teach myself windows form programming because at college we're doing console stuff and i'm far infront of anyone else, and i get bored at home
also any help to simplify explanations would be greatly helpful

The application is a calculator, just practicing some windows form stuff, the user has 0-9 buttons for each number and a textbox which displays the numbers. I need the textbox in there to display answers/numbers etc so I can't remove it I just need it to always display the string when it updates

Thanks :) and it turned out I didn't even need anything extra, the loop pauses to accept input (for example WASD for player1 and Up,Down,left,right arrow for player2) but nothing changes on the screen if no input is given, so it doesn't even matter :P and yeah i'm just practising making anything in the console.. new to this :D
you want the code to see what i mean?
