Protected Storage Explorer 2 gives me an error message after having a DOS box on screen.
"COM exception while enumerating PS data[0x800C0001, (null)]
Any ideas?

I have downloaded a trial but how does this program work. I have unzipped it but the whole list is full of words and jargons. I am trying to retrieve passwords but can't see them. Also where are the files for 'autocomplete' as it only says to clear forms and passwords. how to use this storage explorer?

Hi,
PSExplorer runs well for me in XP, but when I try to run it on a Win2K(SP4) box (local admin), I get the message "COM exception while enumerating PS data[0x800C000A, (null)"
Any ideas?

Hi sid,
Are you getting any results at all? Like a window maybe? Could it be that you do not use Internet Explorer or have autocomplete turned off?
You can also try downloading the latest version from here: www.forensicideas.com
Or try posting in the forensicideas mailing list on google groups: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/ForensicIdeas
Hope this helps!
Regards, James Pullicino

James,
Thanks for your response. I did go the site you provided earlier and downloaded the site, unzipped the file and ran the exe file. The exe file is on my desktop, I run it and it opens up the window. On the left side it shows the Protected Storage-InfoDelivery-Subscription and nothing else. The bars on right side Add/Hex/Bin/Des/ASCii all show 0 all the way. When I select the IE icon nothing happens. Im not sure what Im doing wrong but really do appreciate all your help

James,
I have a further update...I was able to run the program and this time it showed up a list of files. I browsed through those and it did give me the email add name but no passwords. I just clicked on the IE Icon and then did the save option, it created a txt file but I didnt get the passwords only one which was a very old one that I had already changed. How do I refresh so that I get an updated version of the file. I went through a number of sites and opened up one more of my hotmail accounts but none of that information shows up. Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong. Really appreciate you assistance
Sid

Wanted to use the PSExplorer for Internet Explorer, but when I run the program I can't see any "internet explorer" options to view? Am i doing something wrong, or is there nothing to see on my computer?
Thanks in advance for any help.

It could be that you do not use the autocomplete feature of Internet Explorer and that no other applications use the protected storage. In this case the list would be empty.

Hi,
Autocomplete lists are stored in the protected storage section (donno exactly where). However there are some programs that can manage it for you (goole for protected storage).
If you want to excess the protected storage programaticly you should view the protected storage sdk (http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/devnotes/winprog/pstore.asp)
Moreover, there are another article in codeproject about protected storage that includes source for the program.
Regards Y_R
Sincerely yours Y.R.

There is another feature-rich PS Explorer/Editor: http://lastbit.com/wse
However it is commercial.
