I can't find out how this tool works.. It seems to me it doesn't work. I tried all settings.
ToDoList is a great software but without a reminder tool it is missing something important.
Will ToDoList include a reminder tool in a next release?

Should I download the demo project? When I ran the TDLReminderTool.exe I get "Error or corrupted ToDoList XML"

1. You should have already downloaded and installed .dan.g's ToDoList. If not, install it now. 2. Download the demo project (not the source). 3. Unzip all the contents of the download into the ToDoList installation directory (probably something like c:program files/ToDoList) 4. Run ToDoList. In the options menu select preferences (the picture of the blue/green wheel, or Tools > Preferences in the top menu.) 5. In Preferences, Select "User Defined Tools" from the left menu, and click on "New Tool" 6. Click on the little folder image on at the end of the path field (top row, before the "Delete Tool" button) and browse to the TDLReminderTool.exe file in the ToDoList installation directory. (The default location should be this folder.) 7. Click on "OK" 8. You should now have an image of the tool in the top menu bar. Click this icon to run the reminder tool. 9. If this doesn't work, you could always pray. That has been known to do wonders when things look hopeless.

Hello,
I just tried out the ToDoList Reminder, but ... the list of tasks with exceeded due dates contains six times the same item. And this item was never over due!
What could I do on the sources to fix this or is there a new release somewhere?
Best regards,
Martin

When I laucnh the reminder tool, I get a message box that says there is a missing or corrupted ToDoList.xml file.
Where does that come from...there is none in the folder after unzipping everything.

Hi Rod,
Please check Dan's tool on how to configure external executable tools. your todo list should be passed as an argument to the executable.
Happy Holidays!

This reminder tool looks great, but I don't understand how to use it, especially the arguments field.

Please be specific on which field is that. Visual or through the ToDoList. Since I haven't looked at this code for a while my memory needs some refreshement.

If you are using the latest ToDo List then at Tools->Preferences->Tools->Arguments you can choos among a list of arguments such as "$(pathname)" for the relevant task list pathname and $(filename) for the task list fine name. This means that you are passing the tool the active task list path and file name to work with. If you still have trouble send me the argumens list you are using the way you are using it and I will debug and let you know where the problem is Cheers!

Hello,
Well i have problems with this reminder too. I set it up (look at the pictures) and i always get error 'Error or corrupted todolist xml'. If i set the argument to '"$(pathname)" everything is ok. Everything else caused above error.
Here are the pictures:

Hi Alberto!
I tried to configure the reminder tool in several ways. I used "$(pathname)" as an argument or $(folder)$(filename) but there's no reminding
What am I doing wrong?
cheers, Marc

I reckon it would be nice to have a reminder panel that sits above the system tray icon, rather like a ballon pop-up. Pop-up reminders are very annoying and intrusive to users.
