Problems Installing Windows Server 2008 R2

I've just finished 3 day download (with breaks) of Server 2008 R2, and am very eager to install it on my dev machine (my laptop, an HP Pavilion with a 2xTurion 64 cpu). If I mount the ISO and try and run Setup.exe, I get told Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application. I tried burning the ISO to DVD (as files), but my machine wont't boot from DVD. If I re-insert the DVD, so that autorun comes into play, I get told something like "the setup is not valid for this version of Windows"

I have verified the SHA1 for the ISO I downloaded.

Any suggestions as to what I might try, either to diagnose the problem, or to avoid it?

Doesn't solve your Boot problems, but one version of windows is currently on your dev machine? If it's 32bit, you can't run 64bit windows setup (the setup program is a 64bit program as well).

Best suggestions I can come up with:

Make sure your laptop boot order is correct and make sure you press a key to start setup if required.

If no joy, try booting from a USB stick:

Do step 4 only, and copy over the contents of your Server 2008 disk instead of the ISO folder they talk about. The setup programs use the same technique, so it should work (though no promises, I've not tested this precise thing).
