Before starting with the development process, you need to setup your dev environment first. Download and install the Windows 8 Developer Preview with Developer Tools in a virtual environment, if you are not yet done that step. A complete installation procedure is already documented in this article: “Step-by-Step Tutorial to Setup Windows8 in VMWare”.
Download Windows 8 Developer Preview with developer tools English, 64-bit (x64) from: Windows Dev Centre (ISO image, 4.8 GB). All of the following come on the disk image file (.iso):
- 64-bit Windows 8 Developer Preview
- Windows SDK for Metro style apps
- Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Express for Windows 8 Developer Preview
- Microsoft Expression Blend 5 Developer Preview
- 28 Metro style apps including the BUILD Conference app
