Hi Maurus, my name is Don Velli and I am from America. My mom and dad, who are both Italian (my mom is from Italy) told me about this game for the first time last night. I really like the work you've done on this PC version! I code a little myself and I think this is great! Grazie!

Ciao Don!
I am glad that you appreciate my italian game.
Go on with your coding and try to project a simple but interesting game.
I suggest you to use the Qt library, if you like to code in C++.
Sette e mezzo is a card game that we use to play during the Christmas holidays, as you know, and programmed it almost 11 years ago to give fun to children.
Prego!
Ad good coding to you.

Microsoft should implement this game with a service pack for Windows 7, 'cause it sounds like Win7 with SP5.

Italy is not only spaghetti, pizza and cappuccino.
The aim of my article is not to be cultural.
I simply wanted to show by C++, STL and MFC, how to program an easy card game.
In my next article I will show a pizza Margherita in a bitmap.

Ciao!
You can start easily, downloading my little program and to try to understand how it is working.
If you have something to ask, because you do not understand, you can do it here or you can email me.
This is a MFC application dialog based.

Ciao Braulio!
Il gioco e' italiano e spagnolo!
Ok we have the same game, I did not know it, but I could imagine, because spanish and italian have the same culture and many things in common, with our latin soul.
Thank you, I am happy that you appreciated it.
The best for me it's to see children, son of friends, coming at home and they like more to play to this litle game instead of GTA3 or Hitman2 !
Hasta luego amigo and when I will go to Barcelona, let's have a party with paella & sangria!
Ciao.

Vax is the last thing that I miss!!!
How do you know that in the 90's I worked with the glorious Vax?!

I just read your explanation about CORAL !
The VAX/VMS OS was the second (I had a brief contact with TOPS10) one that I was introduced to when graduating, and it was so friendly! Of course, Windows is more fun, but in those days (I think I getting old...) VMS was "the OS" !

You are right.
There was also fun, when we were developing on VAX in Coral or in C and assembly.
The nightmare was the debugging!
Now it's more easy to emulate anything under Windows.
Imagine to make a card game like that with the Vax...!
It's hard to think now that we developed real time systems with it!

the card games name is scopa right? "sweep"?

Ciao Roman!
No, scopa is another popular italian card game.
This is 7 e mezzo! (seven and half) and I chose that one only because it is easier to program.
When I have much time I promise I will do "scopa" for you!

I appreciate comments on my code.
I know the game is not a "shoot them all".
It is very simple, but I like to have some suggestion about the code.

What is Coral?
- Goran.
|
|
|

Hi Goran,
I know there is some similar spelled database but I worked with an old english militar language, called Coral.
It was used on the VAX and it is almost like a specialised Pascal.
This was used for some old naval real time application.
We searched a way to port all the code in C, but the job was so huge, so for 2 years I worked on these old Vax with this Coral!

OOoops....!
I only understood the word mafiozi at the last of your sentence!
So, how do you know that I am a mafioso of the Corleone family and this game is only a trojan to access to the password of your Visa card?
Can you translate your language? Is it hungarian?
Thanx

Yes,
now I understand, sorry.
I was replying to Roberto, who suggests me to add a background bitmap with a tipical italian sandwitch and a bottle of red wine to add the feel to play in the similar italian mood.
I only told him, that this kind of game is played on Christmas by children and families, so it was better to have a "panettone with spumante", that are a cake and a similar champagne, white bubble wine, a couple very traditional in Italy!
So, no mention to mafia affairs and to Sicily pizza conections...or...maybe there is an hidden code to translate....!!!
Ciao
