A simple application that hides the JVM console window while your JVM GUI runs
  • Download executable - 27 Kb
  • Download source files - 3.5 Kb
  • Hide JVM Console windows

This simple application allow you hide Java VM console window when you start your Java GUI application. That problem exists only for Windows, of course. If anyone can point me to more simple solution, I'd appreciate it.

This application (JStart) was designed under Visual Studio 6 and tested for Windows NT V4.0 and Windows 98 and for JRE 1.2.2.

    How to use JStart

    It simple:

    JStart [-hide] appbatfile.bat

Here is a small trick. Your command line for your Java VM app should be put inside a batch file (eg appbatile.bat). Otherwise JStart will hide the GUI application as well :).

It's definitely problem with inheritance of console, handlers etc, etc. If anyone can dig out solution for this, please, let me know.

I have experienced the error when run certain applications on Windows NT 4.0 SP5, it would be nice to know if similar error occurs on different platform(s). The errors message sounds:"... application attempted to write to memory address 0x000000ab..."
However when the same application is run with java.exe it works just fine Smile | :)
