Hi,
Any way to have a two-way sync to any online todo? Our team has mac people, and we cannot get todolist to run on macs. It works beautifully on linux though, so about 70% of the team is set. But those mac guys... we need a solution for them. If we could somehow use the API of an online tool like todoist or similar, we would be done.
Anyone tried to run todolist on macs(/
Thanks?

I've written on this topic extensively, mostly in the Google Group but here as well. All things are possible. Dan prefers that I don't discuss this in public anymore, so please contact me off-list if anything I've written on the topic interests you.

Same update issue as recently.
7.1.1.6 was fine.
7.1.1.7 failed update with and without Run As Admin.
System freshly rebooted.
This time I tried turning off Avast AV before the update. And then the update worked.
I suspect this is because the file protection code is accessing TDLUpdate.exe to verify that it's OK, just when the update is trying to move that file. I can't guess why just this file is getting trapped in this process. Avast does send questionable files off to a remote server for verification. Maybe it's holding a lock on the file while it's doing that.
Perhaps this is just a timing issue. Rather than flagging a failure on a first attempt at a file operation, what do you think about a loop with a 1-second pause and retry on failure? Or since these files aren't going to be used until TDL is restarted, keep a list of files that have failed, and at the end of the process try again to copy them.
If this is the actual problem, I recommend a note on this in the issues wiki and a reference to that page from the upgrading wiki. The solution might be as simple as "Avast users should turn off file protection just for this operation and then turn it back on when done."

To add to the notes, "sometimes" to update TDL I also need to Run As Administrator. So today, based on recent findings, I turned off Avast, then started the 7.1.1.8 update. It failed, couldn't even download the new files into tmp. Closed, then Run as Admin, and it went through without a hitch.
In the past the AV wasn't an issue and admin wasn't required. Over time these requirements seem to fade in and out with each update. I have my pattern now. For others this might not be so easy. Perhaps a note in the update on this would help, or perhaps checks to tell the user if specific folders or files can't be written before the update is actually run. Another option - if the final TDLUpdate.exe can't be copied into the TDL folder, skip it and try to pull it back in on the next startup.

Add a new custom attribute. It goes to the bottom of the list. The Move Up icon isn't active. Move the one above it down, or just reset focus on another custom att and then back to the new one. That activates the Up icon. TY

Thx Tony, I'll have that fixed for 7.1.1.7 tonight.

Should be fixed in 7.1.1.7.
The icon state gets refreshed after the attribute name edit has finished.

I never need to print so I haven't been in this area before. I wanted to select a group of tasks and copy/export only the list of task Titles, so that I could paste them into an email.
With Print, Print Preview, and Export, the same list of Attributes is available. That list does not include Title. I figured it defaults to always showing just the title, so I didn't select any attributes. The default print shows all of the custom attributes in the tasklist. There's no option in the attribute selection to remove/add custom attributes.
I got what I wanted by doing an export, specifying only the Flag attribute. Since none of these are flagged the column is empty, and export to HTML provided an easy single column to copy/paste.

Just select the tasks, Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V into your email for just the titles.

Ah yes. Simple copy does just copy titles. I was doing Copy As Text because I thought ctrl-C would copy entire tasks which would look funky when pasted elsewhere.
But the attribute selector still doesn't allow for toggle on/off of Title, and I hope the issue with custom attributes will still be considered valid.
Thanks.

I have added names to the "Allocated to" option and now for some reason it started to not work.
It doesn't show me a mouse cursor in the box.
After I have updated to 7.1.1.5 it reappear but I cannot add a new name or mark it to another task (I have 11 names there. Does it have a limit?).
I have tried to use the category instead and I have been able to add a category, but after trying to add the same category to another task it didn't let me.
P.s.
Now have tried to add a new "Allocated to" name and it worked.
Tried to assign it to a task and it failed.
I have deleted it and tried to assign the old names and nothing.

Apologies, I introduced a bug in 7.1.1.5.
I hope to release a fix tonight, but in the meantime you can rollback to 7.1.1.4[^] if you like.

Hi Dan,
It appears the top three check boxes of the Kanban Prefs do not work in ToDoList 7.1.1.5.
- "Sort subtasks below their respective parent task" - (Subtasks in Backlog do not reorder regardless of whether or not the box is checked.)
- "Show a task's colour as a vertical bar" - (The vertical colour bar may work but am not able to tell because the solid colour bar is stuck in active position.)
- "Colour bar by task priority" (The solid colour bar is stuck in the active position. When I check the box, the text shifts slightly right and left, indicating activity, but am not able to confirm due to the always visible solid colour bar.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for such a wonderful program!!!

Hello .dan.g.,
First of all, congrats for your program, article... this is a successful software that works very well and helps a lot of us to achieve our tasks each day.
I'm using the todolist to keep track of the job done, more like a todo list than a real control of my time so the part of the window where the % of the completed tasks is shown is something I strangely use.
The area under the tasklist tab bar (with all the editboxes, comboboxes...) could also be hidden too (in this case, if you resize the window this can occupy almost all the available area).
I'm thinking on the "pin" button a lot of software offers which allows to hide automatically some areas when they are not being used often.
If you think this is a good idea and have time to implement it, it would be great!
In any case, kudos!

Hi Joan
The 11th button on the toolbar is 'Maximise Task View ' ('View > Maximise Task View ') which by default hides all the attribute fields and the comments.
If you still wanted the comments to be visible you can control that in the preferences ('Tools > Preferences > User Interface > General > Task Comments ').
