I miss a function to sort selected tasks or subtasks (whole content of folders) alphabetically.
Usally i sort my tasks by priority but in some folders i like to have them sorted alphabetically. I usally set the priorities to the same values there and do this by hand but that becomes more and more annoying.
Maybe it´s already possible?
If not a function which affects the selected tasks would be sufficient for me!
Thank You
Alexandra

Sorting can only be applied to the entire tree/list.

May you consider it?
A kind of tiny menu "Sort Selected" maybe reachable via the contextmenu?

But sorting is not persistent, so what value does it have?
Sounds like you maybe want to re-order the tasks' 'unsorted' positions so that the new positions will be saved. If so, this is not sorting, it's something else entirely.

It is persistent, if you make sure that the main sorting parameter like priority is identical for those tasks.
You are right! As sorting stands for something else we should use the term reordering.
I do it to build some folders for reference use into TDL!
At the moment i do it manually.

Hello Dan,
I have noticed the filed 'Color' is not present anymore.
I don't understand why.
I I start from a new TDL download, it appears.
It seems there is a problem in my .ini file, but I have checked, without any success.
Have you an idea ?
Thank you for your help
NB : I don't want to restart form sctrach, because I have to recreate all my "complex" cutoms filters....

You might want to have a look in the preferences -> user interface -> fonts and colours.
Is the option 'colour task titles by assigned colours' enabled?

Thank you,
you're right. I checked the prefs, but not noticed this indeed.
Color was set regarding category.
But if there is no category, I believed that it was possible to change manually the color.

Sorry Dan, me again.
Just suggestions, I desire nothing else.
I think in the comment pane RTF, might added to it two more functions:
1) to remember the position in which I was reading to switch to another task and then come back. (For example, suppose that in the comment pane of the task "X" I have a long text. And I'm copying paragraphs to paste in another comment pane of the task "AND." Well, to return to the panel comments the task "X" would be good to continue in the same position (the actually always returns to top of the text).
2) to remember the zoom level (now use the mouse wheel to zoom in the comment pane, but when switching from one task another, returning the zoom level back to "100%")
Sorry if there are too many suggestions. If any of these serves ... add it to your to do list

A few questions regarding the calendar:
1. In the calendar view, is it possible to see at a glance which time slots are available on a particular day? Say I have added a task that represents a meeting planned from 10AM to 12PM (start date, due date). Could this be shown in the calendar view so I immediately know that on that day I am available from 8AM-10AM and 12PM-5PM?
2. Is it possible to define a task as a "true" calendar item: an item that absolutely must happen at that particular time and no other calendar item can interfere (i.e. you cannot have two meetings happening in the same time slot)?
3. When a task is flagged as reoccurring, can it be shown on the calendar at every planned interval instead of only the next interval once the task gets finished?
Really what this boils down to is how well developed ToDoList's calendar capabilities are. Am I missing something or is the Calendar tab merely a fancy view without actually functioning like a calendar? Is calendaring functionality beyond the scope of a todo-list and should I be looking at a dedicated application for this instead?

VERY interesting observations:
I think the key question, which defines the above, is this:
Quote: Is calendaring functionality beyond the scope of a todo-list and should I be looking at a dedicated application for this instead?
It would be interesting to know the idea that DAN has on this issue..
The answer I would venture to this question would clearly NO.
I think it's NATURAL that TDL is increasingly also develop this functionality
Until I discovered TDL, I used Outlook calendar.
In my experience: TDL increasingly occupies a central place in my daily work. And it does so in different ways because of the versatility it offers.
But the fact is that as many tasks (certainly not all, but most) have a space on the calendar, and I can not keep using Outlook calendar (or another program that offers this option). That would mean "doubling" my schedule ...
So look forward to this new and ambitious development of TDL.
I think it's inevitable that TDL evolves into a calendar "real", not anything fancy (this may take some time for Dan, but it's not a matter of having NOW fully developed). I say "inevitable" because many TDL tasks are part of our real calendar, our real agenda and it would be absurd to have to use two programs for this and lose the ability to see all unified in one calendar.
So I have long insisted on the possibility to add not only "tasks" but "events", although I understand that is something "questionable"

The calendar plugin is undergoing a major transformation in 6.8, so I suggest that we wait until the first development release (DR1) before discussing what might change.

In 6.7.3 if the filter is set to Started by "B) Today" there are still recurring tasks visible with startdates in the future!
With this filter setting those tasks used to show up when the start date is reached. What happened?
Thank You

Well it´s like i said. Tasks will not disappear even if start date is in the future.
I tried to create a new tasklist and send it to you but the problem that it seems only to affect my old tasklist! BTW the tasks which not disappear are in a folder. Tasks not in a folder act normal (disappear)
I see what i can do that you can verify the problem.
Thank You

It seems to be an ini-file problem. Just send you a mail.

Thx Alex.
I notice when comparing the two ini files that in 'Bad.ini' you have 'ShowAllSubtasks=1' in your filter.
I suspect this is the cause you are looking for.

I never conciously changed this behaviour. Actually i´m even unable to find the parameter "Show all Subtasks" in the Prefs? Where is it?
And this overrides the Filter settings in Started by?!
So i guess when subtasks are in the future but the according folder is not, those are shown, right?
Thank You

If the parent task matches the filter then this option will show all of its subtasks regardless of whether they match the filter or not.
Alexxcode wrote: And this overrides the Filter settings in Started by?! Of course, that's the point of the options: they further modify the filter.

That makes sense but i assume it´s not that way.
I tested it. At the moment subtasks disappear if the startdate is set to the future even if the option "Show all Subtasks" in the Filterbar is checked! Tested with 6.7.3.
Thank You
