Can you help me with the Ubuntu Linux version of the application?

Hello Dan,
When pasting text copied from TDL (and another application, TreeDBNotes), whether from task titles or comments, into a TDL comment field, TDL immediately stops working.
Pasting text copied from webpages still works, but it hangs TDL for about 8 seconds before the pasted text gets displayed.
("Paste Simple" is not affected by those problems.)
I reproduced the above issues in Introduction.tdl.
Thank you,
NT

What Windows OS are you using?

Hi Dan,
I'm using Windows 10.
Thanks,

Thx NT.
Both this and the filtering performance should be fixed in 7.2.DP3 though it's still not ready for production use overall.

Hi Dan,
Thank you so much for the prompt fixes. ToDoList now works great again!

Hello Dan,
Applying and clearing filters became quite slow after TDL was updated to 7.2.DP2. Startup is also much slower.
Thanks for looking into these issues.

Hi Dan,
I could not reproduce the slowdown in introduction.tdl--the issue may be related to the number of tasks in a tasklist? I have about 1000 items in mine (and use Windows 10 on a Dell Inspiron laptop--Model N5050, 64-bit OS, x64-based processor, Intel Core).
I clocked the time TDL 7.2.DP2 takes to:
1. Launch the application: ~ 3 seconds.
2. Load my tasklist: ~ 20 seconds.
3. Apply a filter: ~ 1--3 seconds.
4. Clear a filter: ~ 16 seconds.
So it seems that the two operations that suffer the most from the slowdown are the loading of my tasklist and the clearing of filters.
Thank you.

Thx NT.
However as this is just a development preview I'm unlikely to spend any time on performance issues because so much can change between now and release.

Hi Dan,
I understand.
Is there an easy way to revert to the previous version for now?
Thanks,

Unfortunately you'll need to manually download from the top of this page.
It was a mistake on my part that caused 7.1.2.5 to update to 7.2.DP2. My apologies.

ps. Could you give me an example of a filter where you specifically noticed the sluggishness?

Hi Dan,
I usually filter by title, and enter search words (e.g., "notes", "call", etc.) on the filter bar. In the preferences, I've chosen "When filtering by title, match on titles and comments".
Clearing filters is sluggish no matter what filtering word I use; applying filters varies: it works normally in some instances, and lags in others.
Thanks,
NT

Yes; the issues only cropped up in 7.2.DP2.

When I double click the icon of my choice, the subject task flies off to wherever the cursor is at the moment, as if I intended to move it:
2017-04-06_14-30-57.gif - Google Drive[^]
Notice that to reproduce it, the cursor must be above the tasklist and not somewhere above attribute columns, in which case nothing happens.
This does not hold if I simply use Enter or click OK, but it is in my habit to double click the icon, so it is particularly frustrating.
I'd be overjoyed if this could be fixed.
Thanks in advance!

Sure, I just did that.

Hi fellow TDLers and especially .dan.g. our beloved guru of code and planning! (the espresso is strong today!)
I have many TDL lists and often want to migrate items between lists. Normally I cut and paste or copy and paste... but when I do this the Creation Date is changed to (today).
I don't have a problem with this policy for copied items (like in a file system), as the pasted item is a new and separate thing.
But I'd suggest that when you cut an item, the original creation date should be maintained when pasted.
So then I experimented with importing an entire TDL list into another list - and was very happy to find a switch to control whether Creation Date is maintained or not... BUT this switch does not work for me... i.e. even if I uncheck it, the imported items still have (today) set as the Creation Date! EDIT: fixed in 7.1.2.0
(A side question - It doesn't seem possible to drag items from one tab to another. Am I missing something?)
Thanks!

Hi Jon
Jon753 wrote: But I'd suggest that when you cut an item, the original creation date should be maintained when pasted. The idea of the 'Creation date' is 'When this task actually appeared in the tasklist' irrespective of how it first came to be in existence. Otherwise the attribute has no real meaning.
I understand that cutting and pasting kind of blurs this line but there is nothing to stop someone pasting a 'cut' task in multiple other tasklists nor reversing the original cut via undo. So I will need to think about this long and hard.
Jon753 wrote: It doesn't seem possible to drag items from one tab to another. That is correct, for now.

Hi! OK, well I am more than happy with the option you made available in the Import method.
To expand on my use case, I have dozens of TDLs but usually use one 'master' as a kind of bucket where everything starts off... so when I have added some details to these items I would cutnpaste them into a target TDL according to the context.
However, since the recent updates which have made incredible improvements in performance, I am now able to store many more items in one TDL, and so this might not be a problem in future. I don't know what the new limits are, but I am experimenting with a TDL with 18k items. It hasn't crashed yet! Previously 3k was annoyingly slow (and the original reason for having so many separate lists).
But it is still logical on the user side to be able to have different lists for different purposes, so I doubt that I will end up with just one mega-TDL. It is just too much for one tiny brain to conceive and organise.
I understand completely you have to take a decision each time you add a component - and I wouldn't blame you for sticking with the 'creation is creation in this list' logic, not least because everyone now expects it that way.
My usage might be at odds with most people bc I use 'creation' as meaning the date I had that idea - regardless of what list it ends up in. So in my model, I want 'creation' to NEVER change.
I do have a workaround which I am using at the moment - I am pasting the date into the 'externalID' field. It is not too onerous. I might even create a UDT for that once I learn how.
Anyway, I hope you don't get bored being told how straight-up AWESOME TDL is....

Thanks for this update! I found out that assigning an icon to an item (my tree has a couple hundred entries) moves the topic to another point, in a seemingly random fashion. I use Sort By > Unsorted. Thanks for any help.
