chris_go wrote: Is that concept carved in stone? No, but that's how it is designed at present.
chris_go wrote: That would give us a lot more flexibility especially with using tasklist in a team and with groupshares in a network. I hear that it would meet your needs, but TDL was not designed as a multi-user application and the changes you are suggesting would be counter-intuitive for the more casual user.
One possible solution would be to support separate ini files only via the commandline so that it would not complicate the application as a whole. I'll give it some thought.

Hi Dan,
i totally agee with you!
I would just suggest this as an otional feature.
If it would be possible with the commandline switches (-i, maybe plus the one for loading multiple tasklist at once + maybe a combination? --> please see below as the autostartfolder idee could be a alternative approach) that would be sufficient for my needs. I think that doing it this way would be quite intuitive.
In addition to that it may be a good idea to add an extra folder under \Resources\ named Autorun oslt.
Therein could one place scripts or tasklist etc. that shall be loaded at application startup.
Another option to achieve nearly the same would be to create separate \Autostart folders under the "object-subfolders" \Scripts and \Tasklists under \Resources.
Disadvantage of the later could be that i would not be that clear which autostart elements exist by taking a quick look in a folder.
How do you feel about this?
Regards
Chris

Hi All
As ToDoList matures, new functionality will increasingly appear in the form of:
1. Plugin views (eg. Gantt/Calendar)
2. Custom Attribute Types
3. 'Save To' Storage Providers (eg. FTP)
4. Exporters/Importers (eg. CSV)
This limits work on the core application, keeping it stable and creating fewer risks for data corruption.
Please let me know of any ideas you have that fall into these categories.
But please do not see this this as an opportunity to push your pet feature request.

Hello Dan,
please find below some ideas. Hope this will be useful
1. Plugin views (eg. Gantt/Calendar)
- Improved gantt view (combined with a timeline in order to easily see the milestone). Take a look a the fantastic tool http://www.officetimeline.com/[^] which enables to do this as a plugin of powerpoint (.NET VSTO technology used).
- In the same idea : Timeline view 1 : several tasks on a single time bar
- In the same idea : Timeline view 2 : several dates of the same task in a single time bar (useful in order to see the design period / dev period / test period for example
- Task tree based on several fields. For example : Tasks by allocate to, then by priority , then by a custom filter
- A kind of dahsboard view ?, which could summarize tasks with graphs and charts, but I have not a specific idea in my mind.
4. Exporters/Importers (eg. CSV)
- Import/Export directly from/to project
- Import/Export from/to mindmanager ?
-Import/export from/to outlook : I have in mind a better communication with outlook, especially for meetings/calendar functionalities
- Not sure it is a plugin : Export tdl file to CSV, by command line
Kind regards

I'm agree with Laurent for improving Plugins view Gantt. In meeting, it's necessary to show on powerpoint slides a global project with some main tasks. The tool officetimeline seems to be very good.
I show you an another display of Gantt of smartsheet tool with 3 improvements that could be done in TDL :
- block tasks "allocated to" by the manager ol the list of task
- show the percent of realisation inside the bar
- change and choose the colums

Hello Dan,
since several version (I would says 6.6, but not sure), my main tdl file opens quickly but is very long to give hand to me, more than 20 seconds. It is due to the option File Actions > Loading > 'Notify me of all tasks due (and overdue).
Without this option disabled, everything is fine, tdl file opens quickly.
If enabled, it is very long while I have not so many tasks (200 tasks), to display the windows popup with the due tasks.
Is it normal that it takes so long time ?
Thank you in advance
Please find my tdl file and my ini file

NB: for information, my file has 2 custom fields<a

If you are displaying due task notifications in HTML, can I suggest switching to plain text and trying again, as an experiment.
Likewise if using HTML and a stylesheet, try disabling the stylesheet as an experiment.

Dan,
plain text is very quick (no delay)
HTML + Stylesheet disabled (15 seconds of delay)

This suggests that the problem is that IE is taking a long time to load and display the HTML.
And the reason I'm using IE is so that I can embed it inside a window.
I'll look into it some more.

and those are not assignable again.
But only if "Display task icon next to task´s title" is checked and you don´t use a icon column.
I prefer this option because the icons indent with the title if those are subtasks. But the icon if displayed next to title is just a bit too close to the title which decreases readability.

Can you give me an exact set of steps to reproduce this, together with whatever preferences are required pls?
|
|
|
|

Sorry, at the moment i can´t reproduce it myself!
Maybe i was editing a long task title and the title column including the icons scrolled to the left out of sight. Earlier it stayed this way but i guess now it scrolls back to the start, right?

I believe there was.
And I wasn't drinking. They tend to frown on that at work...

Unfortunately, there was a problem with the uploaded zip file so I took it down.
BTW that doesn't prove that you are not mad!

Hi Dan,
I have got through the stylesheet updates - first pass anyway. This is the first time I have run some of these, and there does seem to be a fair bit of duplication. Some also give an odd output, the cause of which I haven't been able to track down in the code. I have changed the code to use the new sub-nodes, rather than the now defunct attributes. I have also changed the code for 2 others, where there was the possibility of printing both the HTMLCOMMENTS and COMMENTS.
I just wanted to check. The list of things you changed are: COMMENTS, PERSON, TAG, DEPENDS, and CATEGORY. There are no others?

Thx for your efforts Johannes.
zajchapp wrote: PERSON, TAG, DEPENDS, and CATEGORY. There are no others? I think so because the changes only affected how multiple items are stored.
ps. I intend to add a preview pane in 6.9 to assist with stylesheet selection.

Cool, that is what I thought. I should have the updated versions to you by the end of the week or so. Will send a zip to your email.
I think the preview pane would be great. Will this be an example preview, or an actual preview of the current file?
Not sure if this is of interest but - the main ones I had to update were COMMENTS and PERSON. Only a few CATEGORY, one DEPENDS, and no TAG.
