You can already do this but you'll need to first make sure the following preferences are enabled:
1. Tools > Preferences > Tasks > Attribute Calculations > Keep a task's time estimate synchronised with its start and due dates (and vice versa)
2. Tools > Preferences > Tasks > Attribute Calculations > Automatically adjust a task's dates when its dependency's dates changes

Thx MaxMax14.
Are you compiling without Unicode or did you just spot it in passing?

In another application I tried to compile without Unicode to spot it.

Hi Dan,
I've set the default font for comments to be Tahoma, size 14. But when I add new tasks, I always get Tahoma, size 8.
Thanks.

Hello Dan,
I'm using ToDoList 7.2.DP10.
After cutting selected text in the comment field, it now takes several mouse clicks or key strokes to make TDL respond to the next command, e.g., pasting, either from the right-click menu, or with the keyboard command.
Thank you.

Is there a way that every time I create a task, it will auto capitalize the first word?

"many languages have different rules."
I guess so, but meant just for English.

Sorry, it's a multi-lingual app. I don't put in features 'just for English'.

Hello,
I haven't find the option to change the color of selected task(s).
The current color is too light for my eyes, I would like to change for something more catchy.
See screenshot, task selected : "Todolist - 7.0.13"

Did I miss something, or could the option be added in a next update ?

Sorry Djobydjoba, the software has been written to mimic how Windows displays things.
If it's a real problem then you could consider disabling visual themes for the app via the 'Right-click > File Properties ' dialog for ToDoList.exe .

OK, thanks. Finally I've changed the alternate line color for something less bluish and it seems better to me:

Thx, I'll consider modifying the default 'Alternate Colour' too for new users.

I have been using TDL 7-2 DP2 since it came out, with almost no difficulties. However, tonight, something strange has happened.
When I came back to my apartment, I saw that TDL had popped up two reminders, which I then snoozed. However, when the main interface gained focus again, there was nothing visible except the interface elements. None of the rows of tasks could be seen. I normally have 5 tabs open, with a different task list loaded in each. No tasks were visible in any of them.
The program "knows" that the list is "loaded," because in the status bar at the bottom of the interface, it provides information like "One task selected (67)", and "681/681 tasks."
I've checked the folder where the lists are stored, and all files are where they always have been. I've tried opening and closing the app, and clicking "Reload Tasklist" from the File menu, but neither action has helped.
Please advise.

No idea what might be causing that.
You could try closing the app and renaming your preferences (ini) file to see if a 'clean' ini file makes any difference.
If that works pls can you email me a copy of your previous ini file to the address in my signature?
|
|
|
|
|
Your suggestion that I send an email "to the address in my signature" hasn't worked. Your signature contains the string abstractspoon-todolist-support(at)googlegroups(dot)com, which should equate to the address abstractspoon-todolist-support@googlegroups.com.
However, when I sent my message, it got bounced back by "Mail Delivery Subsystem <mailer-daemon@google.com>." The message had the subject, "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)." It said, in part, "We're writing to let you know that the group you tried to contact (abstractspoon-todolist-support) may not exist, or you may not have permission to post messages to the group."
Please let me know how to reach you. I have checked the option to "Allow private email replies to this message," so I assume that means you can access my email address that way.

Hi Dan!
First of all, let me tell you that I'm really loving your software, it works well for what I need. Thank you!
Today I've changed one richtext comment and I wanted to save the list, but the icons on the toolbar where greyed out.
I've changed the name of one task, left it again as it was and saved the file without problems.
Just to let you know it in case you didn't.
Thank you again!

Hi Joan
Can you confirm:
1. What version of ToDoList you are using?
2. What version of Windows you are using?
|
|
|
|
|
Of course I can, sorry I've not added this at the beginning...
I'm using the 7.1.3.6 stable release.
And Windows 10 Pro 64 bits.
Again thank you very much!

Hmm... I'm still not able to reproduce it.
1. Does it happen repeatedly for which there is a specific set of steps?
2. Better still, can you reproduce it with 'Introduction.tdl'?
|
|
|
|
|
Probably it will be a specific set of steps...
This next week once I'll be at work again I'll try to reproduce it. Today at home I've not been able to do it...

My experience is that the specificity of the environment often holds the key...

For many months now, TDL has been exhibiting this bug intermittently: when an entry with a rich text comment field is selected, the file becomes marked as 'Modified', and the Save button becomes active. Selecting entries with simple text comment fields does not change the 'modified' status.
Also, when the last highlighted entry before closing ToDoList has a rich text field, reopening TDL causes the file to be modified. No issues with entries with simple text comments.
It is also worth noting that this bug is intermittent. I am certain TDL 7.1 also has this bug, and maybe 7.0.
In summary, to trigger the bug (not always reproducible), either:
- select an entry with a rich text comment
- start ToDoList with such an entry selected before shutting down
Hope this is of some help.
