I need to create a light weight Questionpaper Application in .Net, which a user can download from web.
After installation, the application should contact my webserver to fetch questions and display to the user and at the end of
the test, all the user responses need to be saved to my database online. Can someone advise what .NET technology I should
use to get this accomplished?
i thought of using ASP .Net for this application, but there are issues like browser compatability, i need to disable forward
and backward buttons. Is there any solution for this?

I have to start Java through the batch launched from Process.Start(filename, params). The batch file along with -CLASSPATH for Java is on the D: drive of the Win 2003 server. It doesn't work. Any ideas?

What's problem? Cannot start the process? if so, IMO it's related to ASP.NET permission...grant the execution for this account

Thank you, enjoycrack...The problem was with the permissions to the cmd.exe. Command executable should run under local system. In my case it was under the default Network User. But you were right about permissions.

Which Event fires when a Leaf is clicked.
I have a TreeView. The NoExpandImageUrl has an icon. When the user clicks the URL on one of these child nodes, a javascript pops open a new window. I want the node on the parent page to bold and change icons. What events should I be using? Also, does EnableViewState need to be true?
Thank you.

Howdy,
Not quite sure what yo are trying to do but I gather it has something to do with a data coming from a database? If you are using a data control in ASP.NET (such as a repeater, datalist) then the first code snippet should do what you want. If you are using a gridview then the second snippet is probably more likely to solve your problem.
<asp:HyperLink ID="hlChildCategory" runat="server" NavigateUrl='<%# "ICT/ProductsByCategory.aspx?CategoryID=" + Eval("CategoryID") %>'
Text='<%# Eval("Category") %>'></asp:HyperLink>
<asp:HyperLinkField DataTextField="ItemDescription" DataNavigateUrlFields="ItemID" DataNavigateUrlFormatString="~/ICT/ProductDetails.aspx?ItemID={0}" SortExpression="ItemDescription">
...
</asp:HyperLinkField>
I seriously suggest having a look at the tutorials on

Hi guys,
I'm working on a little app to post stuff over the 'interweb'. I have Get and Head working fine, but when i try and do a POST, i write the data, and then do a Request.GetResponse(), and it just hangs.
I'm pretty sure i have everything, so i'm slightly baffled as to why it's not working. Hope someone can give me some some pointers. Code attatched.
<br />
public HttpWebResponse Post()<br />
{<br />
if (postData == null)<br />
throw new NullReferenceException("No PostData has been assigned.");<br />
<br />
HttpWebRequest req;<br />
Stream memory;<br />
Stream reqStream;<br />
<br />
req = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(FullUrl);<br />
req.Method = "POST";<br />
<br />
memory = new MemoryStream();<br />
postData.WriteData(memory);<br />
<br />
req.ContentLength = memory.Length;<br />
req.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded";
<br />
reqStream = req.GetRequestStream();<br />
StreamUtils.CopyStream(memory, reqStream);<br />
<br />
return (HttpWebResponse)req.GetResponse();
}<br />
Cheers

Hi,
I am customising my asp:CreateUserWizard control, and I want to change the default text to something like Register. I'm having difficulty in doing this. I know when customising the asp:Login control the button must look like:
<asp:Button
id="LoginButton"
CommandName="Login"
Text="Sign In"
ValidationGroup="MySignIn"
runat="server" />
Must I also create such a button with the asp:CreateUserWizard control? On the www.asp.net website they mention the following:
Command=CreateUser (the control must support command bubbling)
Command=Cancel (the control must support command bubbling)
What does this mean?
Regards

I'm not sure if you can disable the Back and Forward buttons but you could always look at having a multiview with each page on a panel. Keeping track of the current position of the students in either the Viewstate[] or the session. If they try to view a page number less than the current page then redirect them to the current page.
Make sense?
If not I'll give you some pseudo code.
Cheers

I have the following code for my asp page, but I'm having a problem displaying more than 1 word within a field on the table. For example, I have a phone number field and its only displaying "(916)" instead of "(916) ###-####"... or even a title like "Long" instead of "Long Income...". Any ideas on how to get the entire field to display properly?

ok, I am dynamically creating hidden controls in my page by using:
<br />
ClientScriptManager cs = Page.ClientScript;<br />
cs.RegisterHiddenField("hid" + name.Replace(" ", ""), "");<br />
I am trying to reference this control after they hit submit by doing this:
<br />
HtmlInputHidden hc = (HtmlInputHidden)Page.FindControl("hidChicago");<br />
it keeps coming up null..
I wasn't sure what to Cast it as since it was created using RegisterHiddenField.
I tried both HtmlInputHidden and HiddenField and still null.
This page is a child to a Master Page.
When using RegisterHiddenField it adds it in the area where the __EVENTTARGET and __VIEWSTATE would be found.
My question is, why wouldnt the control be found when looking from the Page level?
Also, here is what that RegisterHiddenField created:
<br />
<input type="hidden" name="hidChicago" id="hidChicago" value="" /><br />
It didnt put the "ct100_ContentPlaceHolder1" in front of it, either because its not in the ContentHolder, which would make sense, or its not registering it with a runat=server.
what do you guys think?

By the looks of things it doesn't actually create a control, just outputs a hidden form field. You should be able to access its value via Request.Form["hidChicago"] (of course you have to stick something in there first!)
