You may use, TemplateField in the GridView. In that, within the HeaderTemplate you may use a table, and use its 'background' property to Pick the Image URL for the background.

In the skin file, you can define the gridview with one of the two options below:
<asp:GridView runat="server">
<HeaderStyle CssClass="GVBgImage" />
</asp:GridView>
or
<asp:GridView HeaderStyle-CssClass="GVBgImage" runat="server">
</asp:GridView> You can easily define the GVBgImage stylesheet class that has the background-image attribute.

You can define it in a seperate style sheet file and put the file in the theme with the skin file. Basically, you cannot define the background image in the gridview control markup as it belongs to the style property and the control cannot understand it.

No need, when you specify the theme for the web page the link to the stylesheet of the selected theme is automatically added to the web page.

You can get so many tutorials on net. Only thing what you need to do is to search it in google. BTW even in Code project you can get so many articles which is targeted for the beginners.

Hi, sorry if this seems stupid but I'm a newbie please have a little patience.
I've the following dataset code bound to my gridview
<asp:sqldatasource id="SqlDataSource1" runat="server" connectionstring="<%$ ConnectionStrings:NwindConnectionString %>"
selectcommand="SELECT p.ProductID, p.ProductName, p.CategoryID, c.CategoryName FROM Products p inner join Categories c on p.CategoryID = c.CategoryID"
updatecommand="Update Products Set ProductID=@ProductID, ProductName=@ProductName, CategoryID=@CategoryID where ProductID=@ProductID"
deletecommand="delete from products where productid=@productid">
<deleteparameters>
<asp:parameter name="productID" type="Int32">
How can check if a value in a gridview cell already exist in the database?, I use the following to check if the value entered for "ProductName" is null, but I also want to check if the value entered does in fact already exist in my database.
Protected Sub GridView1_RowUpdating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewUpdateEventArgs) Handles GridView1.RowUpdating
If e.NewValues("ProductName") = "" Then
e.Cancel = True
Return
End If
End Sub
Thanks and best regards.

IMO, the simple way is to execute a query against the current DB to see if this new value already exists or not.
|
|
|
|
|
can you give me a quick sample?
|
|
|
|
|
You simply use the ADO.NET's basic objects like SqlCommand, SqlConnection ... to execute a simple query like "Select count(*) from Products where ProductName=@ProductName" in the event handler and check the return value. Since this sample code can be easily found out there, so I may refer you to a link instead:

In ASP.NET 2.0,by Default, the Compiled Version of your Web Application (.dll file) is not stored in the 'Bin' directory of ur Application Folder like Older Version.
Also it will not stroed in the same name of your Web Application. It may be stored in some Temporary Folder, with a Random name ( xxxx.dll).

Jay

The compiling model is changed in the ASP.NET 2.0, and like someone said your source files by default are dynamically compiled to the assemblies stored in the temp folder of your ASP.NET application. I may refer you to a couple of links that can give you more information.

Codebehind and Compilation in ASP.NET 2.0[^]
Also, if you want to have the output assembly of the project generated in the Bin folder, you may use the Web Project 2005[^]

I want to run a vb script at a specified time. (this time comes from one of the table in the database)
i am using sql server.
How can i do this?
thanks

Hi there,
With the client side script, you may have a look at some methods setTimeout/setInterval to create a timer at the client side, these methods takes the time period (milisenconds) as the method paremeter, but I can guess that you are able to populate this value based on the time coming from DB.
