That's a shame - do you have a question too?
Seriously though - make sure you're calling open again on the XMLHttp object

hi,
I am having an application with two buttons.
There is two files in (.txt, .doc) my virtual folder.
On click of one button it should open txt file in its original format.
On click of second button it should open doc file in original format.

Why don't you just link to the files? Then the browser will choose the correct way to open them.

The following will start the program that is associated with the type of file being opened.
i.e. if it's a .txt file it should open notepad or a similar text editor.
If it's a .doc file it should open Windows Word.
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("application, file or url");

We can change the content type to open a file, This code will open document:
Response.Clear();
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" +
sOrigFilename);
Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", oFileInfo.Length.ToString());
Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream";
Response.WriteFile(sFullFilePath);
Response.End();
This will used to open an excel file:
Response.Clear();
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename="
+ "c:\\Test\\Test.xls");
Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", oFileInfo.Length.ToString());
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel";
Response.WriteFile("c:\\Test\\Test.xls");
Response.end

I am faced with the task of developing a Digital Dashboard for the Corporation which I work for. I need to purchase a visual took that will present my data. So far I have viewed Dundas and Chart FX.
Anyone have a preference over the other? Another question I have is what is Reporting Services, is that an add-on tool for SQL Server?
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

I haven't used ChartFX. I have used Dundas chart and find it does a good job creating nice looking data-driven charts.

It's possible to do using ASP.NET, but it would be better if you used client script, e.g. Javascript, so that you don't have to reload the page to show/hide the extra options.

Your answer has been given in a book named something like , ASP.NET applications ,Problem Design Solution published by Wrox.
As I remember they used a sever linkbutton with text property set to "" but visible property set to true.This makes its server side event active while makes the button invisible. They made use of the automatically generated javascript method called __dopostback. For example one way would be to create a javascript method and associate it to click event for a hyperlink that when clicked invokes that method. And in that method you would show the message box using alert() method and gather the user choice and according to the choice you decide whether to invoke the mentioned method(__dopostback) with parameters relationg to the aforementioned server link button.This causes the server side click event of the server link button to be invoked.
To undrestand this technique you have to know how asp.net generates client side scripts to manage server side events.

Hello all,
I need to create Powerpoint presentation using asp.net.The format for the presentation is predefined, so I need to use a template for the presentation.This presentation should be generated on the client side.
If anyone of you have any idea how to go about that, then please let me know. Thanks in advance
Thanks,
Avanika

May be you can try using macros for that.
I am not sure if you really want to build the presentation at client side. Why not you try building at server side and then post at client?

Can you please explain a little more? I got to know after doing some R&D that one way to do is through Office Automation, and this way the presentation would be generated on the server side. How to post it at client.Another point I am doubtful about its behavior in multiuser application. Can you please explain you point little more?
Thanks,
Avanika
