We've been very, very hands off on the Soapbox but frankly this forum has lost its meaning for us. The goal was to provide a place where members could have a good old rant about stuff that affects their daily programming lives. It's become a place to bait and troll.
The anger, the pointless ribbing of other members, the general darkness here is not making me proud of what we've built. There needs to be a change or we will just walk away and close the doors on this forum.
So:
1. No personal attacks. I can't even believe I need to write that one out on CodeProject.
2. No trolling. No deliberating picking something you know will upset others just for entertainment.
3. No hate talk, racism, sexism, anything that's just outright unpleasant. We're not asking you to be angels, but we are saying you need to apply basic decency to your discussions.
4. Threads that seem designed to inflame pointlessly will get locked.
5. We're the final judge. There's no debating if we kick you off the forum or off the site. We are very lenient so you know we don't do that on a whim, so if you're off you're off. We won't be giving you the pleasure of a public fight about it.
cheers

I'll brush that comment off as a bit short-sighted, and thus dwarfed by many others.

They are very self conscious and tend to hide in the bushes.
I'm pretty sure I would not like to live in a world in which I would never be offended.
I am absolutely certain I don't want to live in a world in which you would never be offended.

Well, he's a lot luckier than a journalist or other dissenter in Russia - still breathing an all that.
This, of course, seems to be rather on the upswing since Putin purged his country of anything approaching "vocal" freedom of thought.
No wonder The Hump admires him so!
The Twit(ter)-in-Chief must get wet dreams thinking about how he'd like to be able to similarly silence any the descent he receives. "Your Fired" seems to only work on his dubiously qualified appointees. Damn FBI/CIA/NSA - they won't help him restore order at all - just a bunch of commies, that's what they are.

I have rarely read anything so childish and silly. Really.

You never read anything truer. It's the truest there ever was.

Of course, you know Trump intimately.

Of course not!
Even Melania would deny knowing him intimately.*

A foolish person who knows little about the alleged poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal
will ponder the absolute incompetence of supposed Russian assassins. Those who have been following events and all the accompanying absurdity will chalk this up as just another feeble attempt to promote anti-Russia hysteria and another cold war against Russia under false pretenses.

Out of curiosity. Do you consider this self defense or not:
Self defense or not?
I was sent this by a buddy of mine, because I practice some Martial Arts.
I definitely have my opinion on this, but I was curious about yours.
How would you have tackled it?

I've seen that before. Probably not self-defense in the legal sense, but he just took him to the ground, it's not like he punched him or did anything to injure him, and you could also argue that he thought the potential of violence was imminent to preemptively stopped it in the most "non violent" way he could. He could have just walked away, but who was the say the guy wouldn't have just started on someone else, someone less capable of dealing with it.

Yeah, f*** him, he was asking for it.

I would probably have walked away from the loud non-violent idiot.
There'll be a huge difference in how a court reacts between shouting some insults and using force. The one who initiated the physical exchange would be jailed here.

I do not, and probably in the legal sense it is not also... which does not mean I wouldn't do the same...
But in any case no real danger to him even the fat guy decides to sue, as no physical harm done...
