Sometimes it's handy to have a DVD in hand, especially when you're looking for a specific version.
All the DVDs on this site are free, but you will have to pay for shipping.

Well my code works in XP, and I'm joined to a domain contoller. Vista is alot different, just can't create the ssp (SERVICE_STATUS_PROCESS), get a errorCode 5.
hSCManager = OpenSCManager(
NULL,
NULL,
SC_MANAGER_CONNECT
);
if ( hSCManager == NULL ) {
errorCode = GetLastError();
return false;
}

This is the worng forum for this question.
However, Error 5 usually means access violation. My guess then is that your login credentials don't have rights to the SCManager. There is a way to escalate your priviledges, but that's beyond my skills and certainly beyond this forum.

Recently,is here anyone who use M$ Source Safe?
Is it possible to use that?
Is SVN much better than Source Safe?
Here is South Korea,NOT north Korea.
It is much regrettable to use Source Safe.
M$ Source Safe is much worst in the World.
I already have been used SVN and M$ Source Safe about 10 years
At the end, I found that M$ Source Safe is worst in the Earth.
Why the hell use M$ Source Safe?
Just in the source control, there's only use SVN? isn't is?

SVN is one possible free version control system you could use. Other free alternatives include Mercurial and GIT; both of which have good support and tooling.

A very good product is perforce[^]. It is free for 2 users and unlimited files or unlimited users and 1000 files.
The paid for version is expensive but very very good.

I agree with that. I use GIT daily and, in combination with a good diff/Merge (Kdiff3/P4) it's easy to use.
When using it i can advice you to install GitExtensions though.

VSS/TFS Source safe is one of the bests in source control system. We will realize the power of this tool only with the team operations(TFS).Looking at the issues SVN and CVS also has their own but the users are least bother since they don't pay.

Hello again,
I was asked by my company to credential everyone in the organization with s/MIME certificates. One of the requirements (obviously) was that we needed to be able to recover encryption keys in a timely fashion for a) Users who have lost their key and b) The legal department for eDiscovery purposes.
We are using a 2008 R2 CA. Microsoft used to provide a free utility that simplified key recovery (KRTool.exe) but it had been depreciated after WS2003. Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager (formerly ILM & formerly formerly idNexus) could have fulfilled the requirement, but it is also quite costly (there is a license charge per-seat that gets up there if you're a large organization).
In order to fulfill the requirement, I created the app that's linked below. Through a GUI, the user is enabled to recover keys for a single user or for a list of users (for eDiscovery purposes). The person who does the recovery has access to the resultant PFX files, but the password that protects those files is Emailed directly to the user or eDiscovery rep.
There are still a few caveats with the tool that I would like to eventually iron out:
- The user must have both CA Manager permissions on the CA and the Key Recovery Agent private key in their CAPI store (I can probably solve this eventually via impersonation, but how to hide the service account password?
- The tool currently requires that both certutil.exe and certadm.dll be on the machine & in a PATH directory. I plan to look into whether I can re-design the tool to use an API rather than running shell commands.
Additionally, I would eventually like to create a secure web-based self-service portal. I will need to learn ASP programming before I'll be ready for that

If you want to share this tool, you might want to follow Dave's advice on your other post, about writing an article about it. That way, you don't just share the tool and code, but you get to share some programming knowledge as well. Also, try to avoid shortened URLS. Personally, for me, I would not want to open a URL which I have no idea about.
If you have a programming question, you might want to post it one of the Programming forums, or Design and Architecture forum, if its a design question.
Signature construction in progress. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello All,
I'm new here to The Code Project. I just finished a password management utility that I'd like to get some feedback on.
The backstory is that my wife & I were trying to come up with a way to manage the various account credentials for the websites we log on to for managing bills, healthcare, etc. We didn't want to use a universal password for everything, but at the same time, we didn't want to have to maintain a spreadsheet of all our passwords that could be easily stolen & read.
The result was the creation of Password Vault. I designed Password Vault to be a secure repository for account credentials. The credentials are stored in encrypted text files. After enrollment, you log into the application using a universal password in order to make the credentials readable. The app doesn't actually display any of your passwords; instead, you click a button to copy it to your clipboard. I also included a feature which will launch the website for a specified account in your default web browser as well as putting the password in your clipboard.
While the app is running, none of your credentials are stored in memory as plaintext unless it is in your clipboard. Also, I included a "Forgot Password" utility that leverages security questions!
Please give it a try and comment!

The name PasswordVault is already in use by several others, and they do the same thing.
What makes yours standout/different? where are the screenshots? You could have written an article on your implementation seeing as you are providing the sources.......

Don't see why this was downvoted, you came here to ask for a free tool, so seems fair to me.
Have a countering vote.
