JavaScript has no access to the filesystem or ability to record audio. You'll need to look at another technology, like Java or Flash.

AJAX doesn't 'contain' anything, it doesn't really exist. It's the merging of some asyncronous stuff built into javascript, with XML as the transport. I recommend doing a google and reading up on what AJAX is, but it won't help you here.

Hi there
I have worked extensively with the ASP AJAX toolkit. My problem which I have been unable to solve is with regards to the Accordion control. When the Accordion control loads, its opens the first pane by default. Is there a way to make it load without opening any of the panes?
Thanks for any help in this regard.

I am developing a webserver application in ASP.Net 2 using C#. It places images of various remote controls on the browser screen in an imagebutton, and when the remote is clicked identifies the button clicked in a ImageButton1_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e) routine.
That works fine, but where I am having trouble is that, depending on the button pressed, I need to pass command strings to an IR Trans device (simulating the remote) from my application without leaving the webpage. The IR Trans device has it's own webserver so what I am trying to do is asynchronously "shell" a text string to that device.
Looking at documentation there are IAysnchronousHandlers that may be part of the solution.
Can anyone suggest the best approach.
Many Thanks

When you print a web page (any web page not
necessarily an ASP.Net page) you will see “Page X of
Y” on the top right hand corner, URL of the page on
the bottom left hand corner, and Printed date on the
bottom right hand corner. How can I change these?
Where can I find and alter the code of these?
Basically I want a logo on the top left hand corner,
printed date on the bottom left hand corner, “Page X
of Y” on the bottom right hand corner, and a
label/text on the bottom center.
insted of doing...
In IE - File, Page Setup - or IE7 drop down the printer menu and select Page Setup there.
can we do it by writing code?
plz help me...

It's possible to change the settings by code, but to do that you need to change the registry on the client computer, and to be able to do that you have to execute code on the client computer, and to be able to do that the user has to accept it.
I would never accept any code to execute unless it came from someone I really trust, and someone who intend to change my user settings is definitely not someone that I trust.

No, I can't, as I don't have any code for that.

I can't imagine anyone working any differently than working on a local machine. Apart from anything else, an 'enterprise' surely has more than one developer, you think they all modify the actual site at once ?

If there are more than one person working with the site, you have to work locally so that you can test the code before anyone else is affected by it. Otherwise any trivial mistake that causes a compiler error will stop everyone else in the project from running anything at all until it's fixed.

Hi guys
I want my webside to be able to slide pictures after pressing a linkbutton. Do you have any suggestions how to load the pictures. I have tried to load it directly from my folder after the linkbutton is pressed and thereby updating a counter variable, but my problem is that every time the linkburtton i pressed the page is loaded again and the counter is reset to its original value, how can I get around this problem?...
Regards

Sounds like you want to use AJAX, or if you want to do a postback, store your counter in viewstate ( assuming ASP.NET ), or a hidden control.

Have a look at something like Lightbox[^] as a JavaScript image slideshow library. If you want to stop a link reloading a page you need to return false from the onclick handler:
<a href="" onclick="do something; return false"/>

Hi Guys,
I have problems declaring ubound array.
As you can see my source code below, the arrays was declared as Dim data(5000) as double.
Do you have an idea on how to declare it dynamically?
Thank you Guys
Dim data(5000) As Double
Dim labels(5000) As String
cmd.CommandText = "exec GetRecords '1', '5/20/2007'"
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text
cmd.Connection = sqlConn
da = New Data.SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter(cmd)
da.Fill(ds)
For iCtr = 0 To ds.Tables.Item(0).Rows.Count - 1
data(iCtr) = ds.Tables.Item(0).Rows(iCtr).Item(1).ToString()
labels(iCtr) = ds.Tables.Item(0).Rows(iCtr).Item(2).ToString()
Next
da.Dispose()
ds.Dispose()
sqlConn.Close()

The questions that you are asking has actually nothing to do with web development, but they are specific to Visual Basic. You should ask in the VB forum instead.

Hi Guys,
This is my first time to use the For...Next statement in ASP.Net.
Can you help me on how to program a For...Next using my code below?
There's a "For each row in" statement in my code but it is not yet done, because I don't know how to do it.
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim strConnString As String = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("dbConnection").ConnectionString
Dim sqlConn As New Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(strConnString)
Dim cmd As New Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand
Dim da As Data.SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter
Dim ds As New Data.DataSet
cmd.CommandText = "select SampleID, DealerID from tblSample where SampleID in (1,2,3,4,5)"
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text
cmd.Connection = sqlConn
da = New Data.SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter(cmd)
da.Fill(ds)
For each row in
Next
For iCtr = 0 To ds.Tables.Item(0).Rows.Count - 1
MsgBox(ds.Tables.Item(0).Rows(iCtr).Item(2).ToString())
Next
da.Dispose()
ds.Dispose()
sqlConn.Close()

I think this is what you are looking for:
For Each row As DataRow in ds.Tables.Item(0).Rows
MessageBox.Show(row.Item(2).ToString())
Next
Although, a messagebox doesn't really work in a web page. If it shows at all, it's because of the combination of two special cases; you are using the same computer as server and client, and the server code happens to run under your user account so that it happens to have a user interface.
