I was wondering if anybody has a CSS script that will hide a button to go to the next page and will keep the button hidden until the user clicks on an pop-up ad. Please help.

you can do it using javascript.
For example:
document.getElementById("buttonId").onclick= function_name
function()
{
document.getElementById("buttonId").style.display= "block";
// or
document.getElementById("buttonId").style.visibility= "visible";
}

Hi all
Is there anyway in which i can set a double focus on page load. That when the page loads i can immediately begin typing into a textbox, but when i press enter that the correct button responds to the button press event. I would like this to happen thus the user doesn't need to click anywhere after the page load, but can merely type and hit enter. The pages are ASP2.0 forms by the way, and the textboxes and buttons asp buttons and textboxes. The code behind is in VB... Thanks for any help in advance..

In Textbox keypress event,
<br />
document.getElementById("SubmitButton").click();<br />

would cause the page to be submitted on EVERY keypress....not particularly useful
You need to check the char code for 13 (Enter) before submitting...

If you using a server side script like: asp, jsp, php...etc, it can be done easly by storing the value of the visibility on the server.
If your page is a pure html page. I have no idea how it can be done.

Therein lies the problem. When the back button is used to navigate backwards inside an ASP.NET application none of the code is executed. This is because the page is loaded from local cache instead of grabbing a fresh copy from the server. Using values stored on the server would do me no good since I need to hit reload to access them. There is the workaround to that issue which is to set the cache expiration of the page to an earlier time or to the exact time, however this only half works for me. I am using a tabbed user control on the page as well. If this is done from the initial tab it all works as expected, but if submitted from the secondary tab I get a nasty 'Warning: Page has expired' browser message. The issue is essentially viewstate with javascript and DHTML. I know there is an answer out there, I'm just having a LOT of trouble finding it.

If the page is pure HTML, and no Server Side code (for the page in question):
You could cache the last used function, and it's parameters in a cookie. And to make sure also you could set the cookie to expire after say 5min. This (mostly) works in my pages it's not the best solution, but i haven't seen anything better yet...

I appreciate your response, but again, I can't use cookies.

You can solve this problem by disabling the cache from the ASP.NET application, but I don't know how ?

Hey
This is not a great answer but I hope it will point you in the right direction:
You can use a master detail view to perform filtering so you click a row in your master view and it redirects you to a page with your details (row view) - look at the tutorials on www.asp.net:
http://www.asp.net/learn/dataaccess/tutorial09cs.aspx?tabid=63
So instead of going to a new page can you not use JavaScript to make a new window with a URL to your details page and a quer string telling it what to show:

Hope this helps

Hi,
I have two sites (domain1 asp.net web application and domain2 perl web booking application).
Currently, a user clicks a button on domain1 to start their journey, they are then sent to domain2. On domain2 the user clicks a button to complete their journey.
This is what I want to do, when the user clicks the button on domain1 to start their journey, a cookie is saved and when the user clicks the button on domain2 to complete their journey the cookie is updated. This will allow me to record how many people who started the journey, completed it.
I know cross domain cookies are an issue however i've heard of people using the image tag to get round this problem by placing a hidden image on the pages where the buttons are and setting it's src in script to a page elsewhere. I've seen solutions in php for this but i don't know php and need a .net or classic asp solution.
I also need to send the cookie info to a database but thats the easy bit.
Any ideas??

The image URL should work like any normal ASP.NET page, just set the cookie, probably based upon the GET variables. (Look up Response.Cookies and Request.QueryString.)
Using an tag seems a little bit like a hack and therefore I wouldn't guarantee it would be totally future proof though. Instead I would just use a hidden IFrame, which expects a normal HTML source instead of an image. In domain2 you just set your cookie like normal .
If clicking the button is what sends the user to domain2, why not skip any cross domain cookie access and just POST the data ala a form to domain2 when they click the button instead of it being a vanilla link. That would seem to me to be the cleanest approach. Domain2 can then set its cookie appropriately based on the POST (see Request.Form).
<br />
<form action="http://www.domain2.com" method="post"><br />
<input type="hidden" id="setThisCookie" value="default value" /><br />
<input type="submit" value="Go to Domain2" /><br />
</form><br />

forgive me if this has already been discussed (i'm new, obviously).
i want to be able to first login to my website using a standalone visual application (obviously through HTTP - also Asynchronously), then be able to add or explore data (think of the server side as a php blog application using mysql - i.e. wordpress). so for example the query for adding data is like:
http://site.com/add.php?article_id=22&title=hello
(and this would only work if i'm logged in)
assuming i have already written the api for the interface with the database (using php and mysql), what is the easiest way to make that standalone file? (and i mean literary standalone (one exe file only) that would work on as many different platforms as possible.
could anybody by any chance provide some sourrce code too?
an example of what i'm looking for in general would be Rapidget:

hope that wasn't too long of a description
thank you

Hi.
I am making a website in plain old html. and I need to know how I can position a <DIV> inside a table which is 800 wide and centered, the cell they are in is the main area of the page, and I have two <DIV> inside this cell, I have the positioning set so I can drag them around, but I want them to retain their position inside the cell as the page expands or shrinks, at the moment if the page expands or shrinks they are no longer centered, the width of the cell that these <DIV> tags are in is 800pixels wide, and the area of the div's are probably 350 wide each and are to be placed beside each other. All I need is for these <DIV> areas to be evenly spaced inside the table cell (horisontaly that is) as the page size changes...
I know that this problem would go away if I didnt center the table, but unfortunatly that is not possible while acheiving what I want...
Thanks in advance...
