I have a problem that points at mshtml.dll. IE 7 gives an error message and requests to send it to Micro... . The message points at mshtml.dll as does the error log. A bit of delving comes up with iexplore and mshtml.dll having a problem with incrementing and decrementing when external.window is involved.
After requesting and installing the hotfix (Jan 2007), the problem still occurs. Hotfix changed iexplore not mshtml.dll
Does anybody know any more on this? Such as how to fix it?
Wonder if it is due to the change in instanciation tracking.
Thanks.

Hi
I want to save clipboard content with any format it may have and load it back again in.
I'd be glad if someone could help me with this.

Check out a clipboard viewer app, like ClipSpy[^], to see how to read and save the data on the clipboard

I messed up the file association for XML fles, I need help getting it working again.
I've done everything I know how, I've even deleted the messed up one and tried to recreate it again to match an unaffected one. (So pressing Restore won't do it.)
Both the affected computer and this one are XP Pro (SP2) with MS Office 2003, VS 2005, and IE7.
At this point I made the association on the affected computer match the settings on this one as best I can.
On both systems, if I right-click an XML file and select Edit, I get Notepad (as expected).
But... on the affected computer double-clicking or right-clicking and selecting Open doesn't work properly...
In the association I copied, both Open and Edit are set to use MSOXMLED and pass the appropriate verb, and then MSOXMLED calls either Notepad or IE. What seems to be happening with Open is that MSOXMLED passes the file to IE, but then IE passes it back to MSOXMLED, and an endless loop ensues (until I press Cancel anyway).

Have you tried going to control panel, FOLDER, then going to file associations?

Maybe uninstalling and reinstalling MSXML might help?
If that does not work:
I've had something similar happen to me a few weeks ago.
It only started working again after I had found and removed every single key related to the file extension. Try looking for the Type Name (e.g. "CP Test Extension"), the extension with the leading dot (".cpt"), and the extension without the dot ("CPT") and remove every entry that relates to the file type / file extension. Also, I had to remove all entries for the software tool handling the extension (our own app) from the registry. Only then did reinstalling the software and choosing "open with" work as intended when activating "always use...".
Cheers,
Sebastian

At this point I have exported the .xml registry entry from an unaffected system and imported on the affected one. Things are working better now, and I'll look for more info on the problem that still exists.

P.S. I've now imported the registry entry from a similar system and it's working fine.

Hello my friends,
I have big problem in my computer as I think, my problem is :
when I turn on my computer and after 15 seconds the computer began to be slow. But when I restart, it's will be good. where's the problem ???
Think you very much for your help

There are many problbem that made your computer slow. But you need to identify what is the cause of the problem. Make sure that your computer RAM, CPU is enough or hard disk space is sufficient for install application and your document. You should use task manager which could access from Start -> Run -> type: taskmgr and press enter key. Then navigate to the tab performance and you will see whether your CPU is slow or your computer is lack of memory. If you want to know more detail you should use performance tool which is locate in Administrative tool under control panel .

Hai
I didnot get what you said..
I need to get the drive letter of a thumbdrive in my machine.
The problem is like this..
Suppose there is a Thumbdrive and another USB digital camera in my machine.so both of them will have different drive letters.
In that i want to determine which is of Thumbdrive.
I had a code to get the details of USB device details(VendorID,producetID,Type of Dvice,etc...) connected to the machine.
So,i thought that if i get the details with the help of drive letter then i can proceed further...
Hope got the problem..
Could you help me in this aspect.
Regards

I have Windows XP home install on a PC.
when the users lock it (Win + L for instance), it show the WinXP's blue screen with the Windows logo on the left, and with the users accounts on the right.
I don't like this.
I'd like to having a dialog box (such like Win2k was doing) prompting for a user name and password... but i can't find where the setting is.
I'm almost persuated that this is a value to change in the registry, but which/where ?
anyone ?
|
|
|
|

I am pretty sure it is either in the Account mananger (Settings->Users/Groups) or in the Theme Manager (Display-Properties).
Something like "use classical logon screen" or "show accounts for selection".
I know I changed this at home, same reason as yours, but cannot find it here.
It was not a registry value, AFAIR.
Cheers,
Sebastian
