Good.
Don't bother about and keep commenting a lot.
BTW (just common sense observations)
- Possibly your program takes a lot of time for compiling because it is huge.
- Possibly your program executes slowly because of design inefficiency.

are you sure you ran vcvars32 (or the equivalent for VS2005) in THIS session ? .. it doesnt look like the path to the VS2005 tools is set .. usually in the PATH you'd expect some microsoft vs directories - if you do a search using explorer for nmake (the original version, not the one you copied), you should see this location in the PATH, and its not there ...

not sure if I can help with that - Orbix Comet is only buildable on VC6, on Windows at least - Other Windows Orbix versions (eg 6.3.4) appear to be buildable with later versions - from their website ...
"Orbix COMet requirements
Orbix COMet is only supported with Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0. Orbix 6.3.4 also supports Visual C++ 7.1, Visual C++ 8.0, and Visual C++ 9.0. However, Orbix COMet does not support these newer compiler versions, and works with Visual C++ 6.0 only. "
.. plus I have sfa experience with mingw
If you're trying to complie Orbix 6.3.4 why dont you download VS 2008 Express or such ?
sorry

Did you call GetLastError() to check why it fails?

You havent the rights to create directories where you like.
Consult the links in the first answer.

Without knowing what directories you've tried to create, we can only guess at the cause.
What does GetLastError return when CreateDirectory fails?

Hi,
I am trying to convert a dll which was earlier built in visual studio 6 to VS 2005. I am getting the following error:-
1>c1xx : error C3174: module attribute was not specified
1>LINK : fatal error LNK1250: failed to merge IDL content
if i change the project settings to Static library, it complies properly.
But i want DLL itself in VS2005.
can anyone please help me?

Hi all,
I have made a project in VC6 and now i want to convert my project in VC2008..
What i have done is i have simply opened its dsp file in VC2008 enviornment. It asked do you want to convert all the files i pressed yes.
Now its giving a compile time error C2440: 'static_cast' : cannot convert from 'LRESULT (__thiscall CTextProgressCtrl::* )(UINT,LPCTSTR)' to 'LRESULT (__thiscall CWnd::* )(WPARAM,LPARAM)'
which is a message map function.
How can i remove this???
Thanks in advance
|
|
|
|
|
I guess you have to change the prototype of the offending method to match
LRESULT (__thiscall CWnd::* )(WPARAM,LPARAM)
i.e. Change the last argument type (of the offending method) from LPCTSTR to LPARAM (and then make an explicit cast inside the function).
Please post the declaration of the offending method.
If the Lord God Almighty had consulted me before embarking upon the Creation, I would have recommended something simpler.

I have a function in my program that processes grades. The function is:
void PrintArray (const int grades[])<br />
{<br />
cout << "The scores are: " << endl << endl;<br />
for(int i = 0; i <= MAX_GRADES; i++)<br />
cout << setw(4) << grades[i] << endl;<br />
}
What I want it to do, is print out the variable 10 per line instead of straight up and down.
I also want to have a const int MAX_WIDTH = 10 so that the function knows when to insert in a newline.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if I'm missing information you need to help. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure if i understood problem but
do you want something like this
void PrintArray (const int grades[])
{
const int MAX_WIDTH = 10;
cout << "The scores are: " << endl << endl;
for(int i = 0; i <= MAX_GRADES; i++)
{
cout << setw(4) << grades[i];
if((i+1)%MAX_WIDTH==0) cout<<endl;
}
}
I hope it helps.

you beat me - and you gave him the answer - I was going to make him work a bit for it ....

not sure what the issue is - you're most of the way there.
Assuming you define MAX_WIDTH to be 10, you could look at replacing the
cout << setw(4) << grades[i] << endl;
with something like :-
cout << setw(4) << grades[i];
then you need to check if i is an even multiple of MAX_WIDTH, and print
cout << endl;
if that is true, inside the for loop of course - hint, look at the '%' operator for the modulus function
That should be enough - see what you can do ..
