There should be no issue with unicode data.

Hello everyone:
I am sure everyone has noticed whenever you are watching a program on the major TV networks after every commercial break when the program resumes they have another pop-up advertisement. These advertisements take up the bottom third of the screen. I find this annoying. I have just seen a commercial, now I want to see the program not another advertisement.
Has anyone thought of making a software program that would block these stupid advertisements that come up during the first few seconds during the continuation or start of a program?
I would happily pay for such an application for my cable box.
I discussed this with my cable provider they said it is generated from the network nad they can't do anything about it. I think it is another signal piggybacked onto their primary one. I would think that this signal could easily be filter out.
Thanks for letting me spout,

TV content providers would be "clueless" if they have split signals for normal shows and advertisement to be sent to a customer's cablebox/receiver; and I'm certain a advertiser would not be happy about that either.
The cable box probably receive the full content, advertisement and show in one nice package.
This signature was proudly tested on animals.

Maximilien,
Either they are "clueless" or greedy. Let us face a simple fact. My internet browser lets me block pop-ups and it is done using some type of software. It should be simple to block a piggybacked signal.
If this keeps up I will start watching all my programs over the internet. This offers me two benefits: 1 - Limited commercials. 2 - No pop-up advertisements at the start or continuation of a program.
Thanks for the reply,

Hi,
I am using WindowsXP.I want to send integer no. through sockets.Actually to send an array through sockets we have to use send(socket_name,array,sizeof(array),flag).But i don't know whats the case when integer comes?
|
|
|
|
|
if you need to send just one int then you may do something similar to:
int i=5;
int bytes_sent;
bytes_sent = send(socket_name, (const char *) &i , sizeof(i) , flag);
If you need to send an array of integers:
int arr[]= { 10, 7, 25 };
int bytes_sent;
bytes_sent = send(socket_name, (const char *) arr , sizeof(arr) , flag);

You're welcome.

Well, not so obvious to me... I actually like both.

Ya ..but Linux is more secure as i think.....
|
|
|
|
|
Can you give me a few examples that makes you think linux is more secure?

Hey «_Superman_»,
Actually it's my thinking.I am using currently both XP and Linux.But as my exeperience says that WindowsXP is a homw of viruses and Linux not.And cracking Linux login password is much more difficult than Windows.and more...

Having gone through your "latest queries", it appears to me that reading a beginners tutorial on socket programming might do you good. I'd do it if I were you.

Additional to what was said before, take a look at Beej's guide to networking programming[^]. It is an excellent starting point for network programming and may answer a lot of questions.
Hope it helps, if you liked/disliked the link let me know.

Hi all,
I am developing an application using VC6.
My application uses MCIWnd to play videos.
I am now trying support FLV and MP4 videos.
I go with a codec.
After install K-lite codec, I rename the MP4 and FLV videos into .wmv files. They work.
However, when I play these videos with their own file names (in MP4 and FLV extensions), I get an error "The specified file cannot be played on the specified MCI device..."
It happens when I call the MCIWndOpen function.
I understand that this function considers the file names instead of video headers to determine video formats.
Of course naming all FLV and MP4 videos into .wmv should not be a choice.
Any suggestion for me please?
Thanks,
TuanVo.

Hello,
i need to create an array with a certain size, the value is stored in an integer (not constant) but for some reason i am unable to initialize an array with the following code:
int size = someclass.somefunction.somevalue;
int buffer[size];
Why cant i initialize it like this?

Because the value is unknown at compile time.

How about this:
int size = someclass.somefunction.somevalue;
PINT buffer = new int[size];
...
...
...
...
delete[] buffer;

Hi,
If I double click an exe which is in a DVD and if I remove the DVD how long the exe will be in the systems"s memory.....in XP,server 2003,2008,Vista
|
|
|
|
|
It will stay in memory until the application is terminated or exited. This could be milliseconds, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, centuries or milleniums.
If you access a resource in the executable with the DVD removed your operating system will probably complain.
Best Wishes,
-David Delaune

The EXE is not completely loaded into the memory.
Only portions that are currently executing and are likely to execute later are stored.
So it will depend on the amount of memory you have and the nature of the executing program.
