It'd be crude, but you could experiment with LineTo() (which can draw one-pixel dots) and related functions.

If you are looking for a graph that need to be drawn by yourself, then go for a custom control. It can simply be developed from CStatic.

its a x-y plot from a set a data, where a text file has this set of data.

Capturing Mouse event on picture box

Hi
I have the DialogeBox and over it the PictureBox . now I just
want capture the events.WM_LBUTTONDOWN, WM_MOUSEMOVE,WM_LBUTTONUP
when I let mouse over the PictureBox only.

One way to do it without many difficulties is to walk around.

You can get without difficulties the mouse messages/events in the dialog box. And you have a parameter CPoint point that gives you where the click was made or the pointer is.

then...

Just take the coordinates of the bounding square of your picture and ask if you are inside of it. I mean:

CRect rectPict;
rectPict.top = YourPicture.top;
rectPict.bottom = YourPicture.bottom;
rectPict.left = YourPicture.left;
rectPict.right = YourPicture.right;

if (rectPict.PtInRect (point))
{
//Do whatever you want while over the picture
}
else
{
//Do other things while in the rest of dialog
}

Derive a class from the picture box using the ClassWizard. Then you can manage the messages.

One of the founder of C/C++ wrote some really good books: Bjarne Stroustrup.
He really deserves to be read. Rose | [Rose]

Also O'Reilly has undstanding books in every way.

Dr. Stroustrup had nothing to do with C. Furthermore, he was not "one of the founders" of the language; he was the designer and original implementor of it.

From where do you start?

Do you know programming but need to learn syntax and idioms of C++?
What language did you do before?
Are you just starting with programming as a whole?

yes iam just starting with programming,
iam appointed as a trinee in VC++.

but iam placed here as a fresher.ido't have fullpledged knowledge in VC++,upto my syllabus i know some basix of VC++.that iam asking u 2 Suggest books for improving my programming skills...

Which contrasts with your earlier "iam just starting with programming" comment. Books are designed for a particular demographic/audience. If you claim no knowledge of programming, you will get one set of suggestions. If you claim some knowledge of programming, you will get another set of suggestions.
