Dear friends,
I've an application written in .NET, and ofcourse, in order to run it, we need to install entire .NET framework in the target machine.
Few days ago i came to know about the tool which extracts the minimum dependencies of the .NET application, and as such, we only need to install those DLLs and not the entire framework. The tool was discussed here but i've forgotten about it.
Can anyone tell me about that tool ??
|
|
|
|
|
Try googling for "Tool to prevent a customer from installing the .NET Framework".
Because that is what might happen if you only install minimum dependencies.
At least AFAIR. so, be careful with this.
Cheers
Sid

Can I use the "file explorer control" in .net compact framework?
just like notes, pocket word to select files.
I searched on google but nothing can be found.
If you don't understand what I mean, here is a screenshot

So,try it in the COde-Behind file in the class level.

I've written a dynamic assembly loading mechanism using Memorystreams, that enables me to "hot" unload an assembly, and load a new version without needing to shutdown my executable.
I use Debug versions of my assemblies so that I can get StackTraces out of Exceptions if they occur, which works fine when I use a filebased load of the assembly.
Is there some way that I can tell .NET that my PDB files are in a Disk location, and the Assembly has been loaded from a memory stream?
BTW: This is using .NET Framework 1.1

Paul, Did you ever figure out how to do this? I am having the exact same issue. Thanks, Dave

OK I figured it out - just use the other version of Load(byte[], byte[]) where the second byte array is the symbol stream!

I was trying to add some users controls from a vendor's DLL to my Visual Studio .NET 2003 Toolbox. In doing do, somehow I "blew away" all the standard controls like Button, Label, TextBox, etc. Help! How do I get these back?
Thanks!

Right click on the toolbox and choose add/remove items and then in the list you will see list of check boxes contains all the controls you cann add.

I am writing a compact framework application that stores data in an XML file. Consiquently I have to read and write and edit the data that is stored in this file. Reading and searching the data is easy enough however I am looking for the most efficient way to edit the data once stored.
The solution that I have seen suggested most often is to use XmlDocument to open the file and edit it. However I have seen it written that the fact that XmlDocument requires the entire document to be read into memory is in efficient and a bad idea with memory restricted devices such as a PDA.
This leads me to have the following questions:
Is the performance issues of XmlDocument a large concern if I am going to be opening the file, finding what I am looking for editing and closing all at once?
Secondly, if the answer to that question is true, what is the best way to edit a file? My next thought would be to use a conjunction of XmlTextReader and XmlTextWriter to search the file and push into a buffer as I go, but that seems tedious.
Many thanks for your time and advice,
Andy

hi,
I belive that this question belongs to XML forum...
Andy Nortrup wrote:

It depends on how much you will edit the file, how big the file typically is etc... If you can do it at one pass and memory is problem, you could really use chained XmlReader /XmlWriter . Btw, good idea
It's described in Efficient Techniques for Modifying Large XML Files[^]

Hi All.
I realy need help
Im building a class wich needs some kind of behavor .
I will explain it with objects taht all we know .
Dim MyCommand1 as Sqlcommand = New Sqlcommand
Dim MyparameterA as Sparameter = New SqlParameter
MyCommand1.parameters.add(MyparameterA)
'This what i want to do
'-------------------------------------------------
MyCommand1.parameters(0).parametername = "Test1"
MyCommand1.parameters(0).commandtype = Storeprocedure
'-------------------------------------------------
VB.net Allows me to Set the parameter and commandtype to the parameter MyparameterA. throw the acces of Mycommand1 and its parametercollection
When i try to set a value to a parameter for my class , vb underline with a blue line the statement and in the tip toolbox says "Expression is a value and therefore cannot be targen of an assign"
What im missing .. or my object that represent my collection nees any thing else than inhertits from Arraylist type ..
Thank you very much

Hi there,
Is there any way to first INSTANTIATE a class and then register it for remoting (as a server activated singleton object) ?
It is very important in cases which, for example:
a. I have a CacheManager class
b. A second class, Reporter, accepts a reference to the CacheManager
via the constructor (optional).
-> How can i first create an instance of the class, set it up and then
publish it for remoting (as a singleton)
thanks,
i.c.

Did you look into the RemotingServices.Marshal ? You can use it like
RemoteObject obj = new RemoteObject();
RemotingServices.Marshal(obj, "RemoteObject.soap");

Hi yunuskajee,
It will be easy for us if you can give your xml file also.
I guess there is nothing wrong in your code.
Thanks and Regards

There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the code, but then 3 lines isn't near enough to diagnose it. If the problem is on the doc.Load(filename); line, then it's probably going to be caused by an invalid XML file.

I think try/catch blocks will help you so much:
try{<br />
XmlDocument doc = new XmlDocument();<br />
doc.Load(filename);<br />
return doc.DocumentElement; <br />
<br />
}<br />
catch(XmlException xe)<br />
{<br />
MessageBox.Show(xe.Message);<br />
}
