Hi,
I am using MySQL, PHP and PDO to insert a support ticket. Inserting works fine but I want to get the ticket_id after insertions using OUT from the stored procedure. Can you please help.
here is my stored procedure followed by my PDO code for INSERT.

Your primary key seems to be a GUID, not an auto-increment field. LAST_INSERT_ID only works for identity-fields.

Hi,
I am using PDO in MySQL to insert a ticket. I want to return the ticket number which is the primary key (auto increment) but it's always returning zero.
here is the code I am using:

Hello everyone.
I've got a problem in oracle.
I have a oracle database on a OracleLinux OS (Server A),and a Microsoft SQL Server on another server that has Windwos 2008 R2 as OS (Server B).
I want to connect to SQL Server via oracle and insert some data to it's tables (from server A to server B).
Any suggestions?

Where do you want the process to run? How often does it run?
Simple solution is to export the data from one server and then import it to the other. You can automate this process with some code.
More complex solutions involve specifics of each database. MS SQL Server has tool\system, "SQL Server Integration Service", as part of it which is basically designed for moving data back and forth. One can make this as complex as one wants.
MS SQL Server allows one to set up a ODBC connection and use it. So one could do it in SQL Server. Oracle might have something similar but I wouldn't go that route because setting up ODBC on unix variants is not only a problem but you would need to find a MS SQL Server ODBC driver as well. However, Oracle has a java VM built in so you could use a java only MS SQL Server jdbc driver and do a call like that.
However if it was me I would stay away from the internal solutions because getting everything to work right via permissions, loading, turning everything on, figuring out ports, etc will take more time than writing the code in the first place. So some solution that uses import\export is going to be less frustrating.

Then you need to create a database link.
If you want to control it from the SQLServer side you download and install the Oracle client.
Configure the client and verify connectivity to the Oracle server using Net Manager.
Create a linked server in SSMS using Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle.
This is from memory and might be incorrect, but you should have enough info to google the correct procedure.

INSERT INTO tbl SELECT x UNION SELECT y UNION SELECT z isn't valid Oracle not because of the UNION, but because of the SELECTs.
You could simply change it to INSERT INTO tbl SELECT x FROM DUAL UNION SELECT y FROM DUAL UNION SELECT z FROM DUAL
You could quickly do this manually with a search and replace UNION with DUAL UNION and add one DUAL on the end

I just looked at the database forum here on CodeProject, and its two related forums, and the definition of "database" in those three groups is way beyond the scope of what I'm looking for. Those guys look like the professionals of professionals.
I just want to set up a system that I can use to track a set of people. A spreadsheet is *NOT* the answer in this case. I want a window on my screen with the fields physically separated and so on; i.e., simple without requiring me to solve complex matrix algebra just to keep a list of names, E-mail, and some keywords associated with each member.
I seriously doubt that I'll ever have a thousand people in this system.
So far I have looked on

I welcome suggestions for such a database program.

Can you elaborate on this? By "track" do you mean "find by email and/or keyword", or something else? Do you anticipate increasing the type of data of you may want to manage in the future (e.g. contact phone #, etc.)?

Take a look at this[^] . It's a semi-auto generated data services for membership management. Once setup, it allows rapid and customized growth. It could serve your purposes (i.e. it have build-in SQL like, smart, user search interface so that you may not need keywords). It allows an initially small system to grow smoothly and continuously at low costs.
As a service, it has relatively clean documented APIs and rich sample codes (see the test packages) for a .NET or front end ASP.Net web developer who has limited knowledge about relational databases to work with. Because of this, it can be used in various applications, including but not limited to Asp.Net membership management.
No real databases are needed for small data sets (say, less than 50,000 rows) since it can be initially attached to in-memory databases of ours and it is much faster and cheaper than using a traditional database engine when the data sets are small. When your system grow to a size that in-memory databases are not suitable, we could provide adaptors and data migrators to attach it to a selected database engine aquired by and licensed to you. However, do not use the demo service for production system since it uses .NET serialization methods designed for remoting, not for long time persistence. Microsfot could upgrade it in the future as the .NET framework grows that may render old data files not readable (it happend serveral times in our experiences). I agree with both RedDK and Ravi but will strongly recommend SQL Server (express or compact) but it may be overkill for what you require. Access bleh may actually be more appropriate.
However some of the other suggestions on small specialised tools (filemaker etc) may be even more appropriate, you should look at them in light of your requirements and skill level. If you are going to develop an app against a database definitely use SQL Server it insure the app has plenty of growth potential.

So create a custom system - basically write your own simple database.
You either used fixed record sizes or create an index to find records. Probably easiest if the index is in another file.
If you go this route then make sure you use an API in your code that completely separates the rest of the code from the storage mechanism. That way you can replace it later on if you want.
