Can anyone please let me know what is the difference between a service with "Allow service to interact with Desktop" checkbox checked and unchecked ?

is it only for making interactive or something else is also there ?
We have a service for our application, and our application uses another application.
The option "Allow service to interact with desktop" for this service is set.
If i set this option checked for my service then only my application works,
otherwise no.
For my application to work, both the services's option must be either checked or unchecked.

Hi,
I have problem with standart ToolStrip.I need to prevent toolstrip to change ToolStripContainer, but i don't now how. Best scenerio would be my own ToolStrip class inherited from ToolStrip enhanced by property bool AllowContainerChange. User should be able to move this ToolStrip between panels in single ToolStripContainer, but not between Panels of two different containers. Please help, how could I achieve this? I was trying to remember previous ToolStripContainer in OnBeginDrag method and then setting it back in OnEndDrag method, but I don't think, it's a right way, because it doesn't works well.
Thank you very much.

I'm trying to extend the window frame into the client area on Vista using interop to the DWMAPI. I have it working just fine when the client is running the Vista Aero theme (that's the one with glass enabled).
The problem comes in when I switch the client to running the Vista Aero Basic theme (which doesn't have glass enabled). Instead of the frame being extended into the client area without the glass effect, I don't get any change.
I know it can be done because the Vista Explorer and IE 7 do this when running under Aero Basic. My question is how is this happening? I know it's not a function of the DWM, since the call to DwmIsCompositionEnabled[^] returns false . Does anybody know what API's are being called?

thanks dude ,
I used google desktop in my XP but now I have vista which have powerful desktop search engine :->.
do you have an idea how to do indexing in vista???

I have Vista too and I also think it's desktop search capabilities are mediocre. Instead, I use Mo-search, which has ranked results and works much better for me, especially on source code:
http://www.meauxsoft.com/21701/index.html[^]
Just install it and it auto-indexes everything. Then, days/weeks in the future, when you need to update the index you just go Toolbar->Tools->Reindex. This does reindexes everything, but only the files that have changed so it's pretty quick. good luck.

Hi,
I have a stand alone windows application, which requires 3 input parameters to run program.
I want this app automated.
How can we do this, so that the 3 input parameters are "set" once, the first time they run the app, and from then on, it is automated to use those 3 parameters always to run application - in other words automated.
Thanks so much for your time.

Hi Everyone
I was wondering if anyone could help me out.
I have a main windows form with various child forms. One of my child forms handles the wheel mouse events to zoom in and out. This works fine until I select a combo box on the main (parent)window toolstrip. If I then click my mouse anywhere in the child window and then use the wheel mouse the combo box scrolls through it's items rather than the child window scrolling as it should. The only way to get the wheel mouse focus back to the child window I require is to click on one of my other child windows and then back onto the child window that I wish to zoom. The wheel mouse is then handled correctly. Can anyone tell me an easy way of removing the focus from the combox box?
Many thanks in advance!

Apologies if this has been done before, but my searching of the forums didn't yield any results.
I want to know what your preferred tool is for unit testing your WinForm UIs? (not the logic behind the interface, but the controls themselves)
I've looked at Fitnesse briefly, but there's not going to be any quick or simple way to set up a web server on my current client site.
Our team already uses NUnitForms, but I'm wondering if there's any viable alternative.
Thanks in advance. Look forward to seeing peoples' responses.

Ashley

I used to use our own tool which is extended from NUnit. We added two features such as Macro recording/playback and image comparison to our tool. it's very useful for UI Testing. The point here is that it's not easy to find the best tool which is met with your requirement. (Everyone has its own requirement and needs.) So, it is better if you add some customizations to the existing opensource testing tools to meet with your requirement.

how can i start a form maximized ?

set the window state property on the form to maximized.

If you don't want to set the form to maximized at design time do it in onLoad event:
this.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized;

also if you want to force the form to remain in maximized state then write its resize event and do the following
if not designmode then
me.windowstate = formwindowstate.maximized
endif

[Pitfall] if you do this (in form load you write windowstate = maximized) and then inherit a from from this form it'll create troubles. so first check if it is in designmode
if not Me.DesignMode then
me.windowstate = Maximized
End if

My WinForm application looks small on higher dpi. I want to give option to
the user or it should automatically get resized to look same as it was
designed (or bigger on higher dpi and smaller on lower dpi) on different dpi.
Kindly point me or let me know how to achieve this.

how to set various mouse event on a tray icon in Win32 pprogramming??
thanx.

Well, it depends what Systray icon control you are using. Browse the events that the control will raise to see how to handle the different mouse events.

Hello All,
I have a requirement in which I need to display a datagridview with 3 columns and few rows. In my first column few rows will have exact same data which I want to show as a single cell (something like merging in Excel). The rows of the other columns remain the same. Can anyone guide me how to do this? This is kind of urgent and an open issue in my application.
Thanks in adavnce for your help.
