Another week, another story of technologists enduring a gauntlet of “crunch time” to finish a project. Only if by "crunch time" you mean "free chips (crisps) at the team meeting"

Experienced software developers are quite good at estimating small tasks, or estimating small subtasks in a larger task. The issue for a large project is that it's impossible to list all subtasks a priori.
No, "crunch time" is usually necessary because of "feature creep", which we are notoriously bad at resisting

Feature creep, combined with an immovable launch, true.
A certain company I used to work for liked launching at conferences. That usually lead to crunch time. I still think it’s generally a bad idea though, as that’s often the code that comes back to bite you first.

Maybe not at conferences but I have had a lot of projects for different customers that had very rigid deadlines and kind of official "events" (SOP's)...
Specially when being abroad, that led to weeks with 80-110 worked hours. Followed with several days off to recover when back at home or getting ill.
Today I would say... screw you. If it is not ready for the deadline, next time don't be so arrogant, hear to our estimations and add a 10% to 15% buffer on top. If you have to book longer trips and pay more travel expenses... your problem.

Along with the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.160, Microsoft today announced the release of official Windows 11 ISO images. In Search Of a solution?
Or at least justification for the "after the last version"?

Microsoft has many products and a vast amount of source code to compile and build. "I'd like to build a world a home, and furnish it with love"

I really have started to wonder how are the interviews for those HHRR jobs...
Because in some cases it is really a merit, to be able to speak so much actually saying nothing.

Microsoft spotted a campaign that changed its encoding mechanism at least 10 times in the past year to evade detection — even using Morse code as one method. Don't they know you're supposed to eschew obfuscation, and espouse elucidation?

As my English teacher would have remarked: "Could do better!"
That's not nearly obfuscated sufficiently.

Despite the ubiquity and ease of access, CSV is a wretched way to exchange data. Then what am I going to do with all the spare time if I'm not cleaning files?

I don't even have to read the article. Horse hockey. What? 20 elephanting years ago, xml was gonna be that thing for data exchange. And in the process of making it perfect, people who needed to get things done said, elf that, I need a paycheck. And CSV lives.

Notice the comma in that quote? As long as we have commas in sentences (is that something only found in Germanic languages? -- I am woefully ignorant) CSV will live.
