Personality affecting the way you do things... what a surprise.
And they need a study for that?

They are going to need a follow-up for sure, to see why you are surprised.

Comprised of 3,200 megapixels (MP), the image was captured using an array of 189 imaging sensors that are being developed to be integrated into the world’s largest digital camera that is currently under construction at SLAC. It's a really detailed photo of the researcher's thumb

It is not a thumb, but I think it might be an option too

Following a roller coaster ride in popularity during the past few years, C++ is now the fastest-growing language of the programming pack, according to TIOBE's September index. Is that based on the size of the language spec document?
Yeah, sorry. Monthly random numbers from TIOBE. I'm addicted. Someone send listadone!

Microsoft recently made a change to Windows 10’s built-in antivirus software ‘Windows Defender’ or ‘Microsoft Defender’ that will warn you when you manually try to block telemetry data by editing HOSTS file. I'm sure they have HOSTS of reasons

Obviously this is about the 0.001% of people who use windows while waging war on microsoft; and not about malware that tries to block all communications with MS in the fear that something sent back might tip off the people behind windows defender.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

'struth. I just wish they were a little more proactive about announcing these things. By locking down, then reacting when people complain, they look guilty of shenanigans. If they said, "Here's what we're doing and why" beforehand, that 0.01% might even accept it.

Specially crafted Windows 10 themes and theme packs can be used in 'Pass-the-Hash' attacks to steal Windows account credentials from unsuspecting users. It's hardly surprising: they are so directly interconnected (ugh)
Do people actually change their theme anymore?

How many of your own posts have been related to hard to believe problems due to idiotic ideas?
But... as you say, hardly surprising anymore. Coming from MS I now believe almost everything.

C++ 20, the latest version of the venerable object-oriented programming language, has been unanimously endorsed in ISO's final technical approval ballot. It passed on Friday September 4, 2020, and not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The mutex were hung in memory with care, in hopes that Bjarne Stroustrup soon would be there.

I really like the enhancements to std::atomic_flag [^] , which didn't even make the article. It should simplify a lot of this condition variable nonsense. For all the dissing of Windows, its CreateEvent , WaitForSingleObject , and SetEvent combination has long provided the same functionality.

std::atomic_flag has been around for nearly a decade. It was added in C++11 but I was using it long before that in the old TR1 libraries.
But I think you are referring to P0995R1
