it is as important as knowing about releases processes and quality of your product.

Need I remind everyone what a little learning is?
Sadly, given the technical directions that ms products have been taking, over recent years, it's exactly the kind of thing I expect to hear from the ms CTO.

Mine all seem pretty benign -- boring even. A malicious one would be wicked.

Google has been fined €50 million (~$57 million) by French regulators, the first major penalty under a sweeping new European Union privacy law known as GDPR, which took effect last year. On revenue of ~USD120B, that's gotta hurt

As the OSS community has grown in scale and importance, the way we think about working together has to evolve, too. "Bob and the gang have so much fun. Working together, they get the job done"

Didn't the OSS become the CIA?
That would certainly explain why 60% of computer resources are used for data-slurping, these days.

Quote: OSS is an essential and special part of software development. No, it isn't. It's simply another piece, no more, no less. Like any other piece, individual projects rise or fall based on 1) the passion of the caretaker(s) and 2) whether they solve a problem and do so with reasonable quality. This is no different than from paid-for products.

I’ve been saying for awhile now that we’re getting close to a crisis point in the IT world. The mid-tier IT worker is in imminent danger of being automated out of existence, and just like with the vanished factory jobs of the last 30 years, nobody wants to admit it’s happening until it’s too late. I know lots of non-technical people who seem to have no trouble at all producing code, if their boss requires it of them.
They start with "Hey, Mark, could you...?"

FTFY (and I wouldn't be surprised if the same could be said of even older spreadsheets).
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

Software development has been getting easier and easier as computing technology has evolved. Here's what developers need to know and do to stay relevant. If everyone is a dev, then no one is a dev?
Wasn't there an article recently about how great the prospects are for developers?
